3 More Weeks of E-Learning

I hope that everyone had restful Spring Break and was able to spend time with loved ones for Easter. Just before the break Governor Kemp announced the continued social distances measures throughout the rest of our school year. In response to this decision, our school system decided only to have three more weeks of at home learning and for our last day of school to be May 1, 2020. We have many changes to our calendar as well because of the extended social distancing.

Classes start back up tomorrow and will continue to be conducted via Google Classroom. Band students have access to In the Kaleidoscope by Derek Able, which they will record and submit for inclusion in a virtual band collaboration. Mr. Able sent the music to me before we realized the pandemic would prevent us from reading it. I reached out to him to ask if we could use it for a virtual band and he jumped at the opportunity. We have invited schools from five other school systems to participate making this a very exciting project!

Guard students will be receiving content from Ramon and we will begin recruiting students to join our Color Guard Google Classroom so that we can begin getting to know our prospective members and provide training videos to assist them in preparing for tryouts. If you know of someone interested in auditioning for the Guard, please share this google class code with them: hkr2jp3.

We also have marching videos ready for our prospective leadership to test drive before we share with our rookies as we continue to prepare for next season!

Honoring the Class of 2020

In an effort to remind our seniors how much they mean to us, our booster club created yard signs and delivered them to our seniors this past week. We plan on honoring our seniors throughout these next few weeks before their grade schooling is officially finished. Honoring our students is a priority, especially our seniors!

Virtual Band Banquet • April 27, 7:00 PM

The banquet will still take place on Monday, April 27 at 7:00 PM, although the format will be a little different.  We will recognize the superlative winners and show the video created by Alexis Hansen with footage and pictures that she has been collecting for us all year long. The video will end with the marching show performance.

SENIORS! Please submit a video for inclusion in the banquet video. We want to include a message from you.

More information regarding how to attend the virtual banquet will be posted soon – we are still working out some of the details of the live event.

Band BBQ – July 31

Updated BBQ Presale Form

As of right now we are planning on having the BBQ on Friday, July 31, the last day of band camp. We hope this give adequate time for the COVID-19 pandemic to ease up and allow larger gatherings to begin. It will be in conjunction with “Trojan Night” which is the performance evening to capstone Band Camp. We will need volunteers for that day to set up and sell BBQ in addition to needing volunteers to help with serving lunch and clean up that day. If you can be available, we thank you for your help!

Senior Class of 2020, we invite you to join us for Trojan Night so that we can honor you appropriately. We are sad that we are unable to perform Battle Hymn for you and conduct our shoe and sock ceremony this school year. but, we would be honored if you would allow us to celebrate you at the end of band camp. You would join us on the field after the Band Camp performance to perform a couple of your favorite stands tunes and then be recognized individually. This would allow us to publicly present your senior plaque to you. If you are unable to attend, we will schedule a time to get your awards to you. Please e-mail Mr. Carr at christopher.carr@carrolltoncityschools.net.

Below is a sketch of the itinerary for the evening:

Skits start at 6:00PM • Field Show 7:00PM • Stands Tunes 7:30PM • Battle Hymn 7:45PM • Candle Light Ceremony • 8:15PM

Liberty Tour 2021 Trip

While we understand that this time is filled with uncertainty, we have decided to NOT change the due date of the trip deposit. The reason for this is if we push back the deposit, it will only require us to increase the minimums due at each milestone date. Again, please know that this decision was not an easy one to come to. So as a reminder – a $50 non-refundable/non-transferable deposit is due by May 1, 2020 to secure your spot on the trip. You will be able to make payments for your trip through RevTrak by clicking here. Please note that you will need to pay the service fee when paying online. This is the only method of accepting payments due to the “stay-at-home” order implemented by the Carroll County Board of Health and the City of Carrollton.

Should you want to make a deposit but cannot pay by credit/debit card, please contact Mr. Carr christopher.carr@carrolltoncityschools.net or Ed Redmond ebredmond@gmail.com and we will set up a time and date to collect your payment.
