Second Semester Begins Tomorrow

Good evening!

We hope that everyone has had some special time with family while celebrating holidays and ringing in the New Year!  We are anxious to welcome everyone back tomorrow as we begin our second semester.  As you know with band, we are always preparing for something!  Hoping to make this a great semester for all of our students, but especially our seniors who are diligently working on preparing for next year as they count down to graduation.  Seniors, please continue to create wonderful memories with one another, as we still have plenty of time together as we create your legacy.

Chair Placement Auditions

Placement auditions in the fall are a peculiar animal because of the complexity of our schedules.  We are very fortunate to have the support of our administration to help us in this endeavor, but in order for all of our students to have the best possible experience, we must have balanced instrumentation in each of our concert band classes.  Sometimes student’s schedules work for them to move, but in order to keep the instrumentation balanced a student in that section would need to be able to move as well, which sometimes causes a problem.  Due to this puzzle, posting auditions during the fall semester is a challenge sometimes.

Thankfully, our band program is full of talented students who push one another.  Because of the need to balance instrumentation, this means that many students fall on the fulcrum between two ensembles and could be best served and perform well in either ensemble. Below is a link to the chair placement auditions based on how the schedules could work out.  I am excited about next semester as we begin preparing for Large Group Performance Evaluations.  It is going to be a great rest of the year!  Go Trojans!
