Information concerning our upcoming performances for the jazz bands have changed and I wanted to update everyone ASAP.

UWG Sunbelt Jazz Festival (April 13)

Both Jazz Bands are performing on Saturday, April 13 at the AMP (downtown Carrollton) for the UWG Sunbelt Jazz Festival.  The festival runs from 4:00PM – 9:00PM.

Because the performance is local we will not be taking a bus to the performance.  Students should report to the AMP 30 minutes before their performance time.  SJB please arrive by 3:50PM and 1BJB please arrive by 4:10PM.  Students are free to depart as soon as we are finished.  Our attire is all black with gold accents (gold tie, scarf, socks, sun glasses, etc.)  Please come out to watch the performances! It is free and open to the public

GMEA Jazz Performance Evaluations (April 16)

Our times have changed for our performance in Cartersville.  Our two jazz bands will attend the GMEA Jazz Performance Evaluations on April 16 at Cartersville HS.  Students will ride the bus to the event.  The performance is free and open to the public.  We would love to see you in the audience!

Band BBQ (May 2) – WE NEED U!

This is quickly approaching! Tickets were handed out, please ask your child for the tickets.  We ask everyone to please sell 30 tickets or make a $175 donation as this is a critical fundraiser to help with the operation of our band program.  Please ask your workplace too! We are happy to make deliveries to businesses who order 10 or more meals. Please Sign-Up to Volunteer.

Band Dinner/Awards Night (April 23)

April 23 at 6:00 pm. This is a great evening for our band and band families! Please mark your calendars so you won’t miss this event! Longhorn will be catering and tickets will go on sale in the next week or so. Tickets will be $13 per person and must be paid before the dinner for planning purposes. Leadership Clinics (April 8 – 12)

Leadership clinics will run this week. Students who are participating should sign-up for the Google Classroom and attend all leadership clinics.  We will discuss leadership principles and apply them everyday.  These clinics are designed to prompt self-reflection, interaction with peers, and promote students to step outside of their box.

Marching Percussion Clinics (April 15 – 19) 4:00PM – 6:00PM

Clinics for all percussionists to learn marching percussion techniques and determine instrument assignments for the fall.

Color Guard Clinic/Auditions (April 15 – 19) 4:00PM – 7:00PM

Clinics for all students interested in auditioning for the Fall Color Guard.  No experience is necessary to attend the clinics.  Please wear athletic clothing and bring a great attitude!  Membership in the fall color guard is required for students to participate winter guard activities, except current 7th graders who may participate as 8th graders.
