CHS Band Performs at UWG Sunbelt Jazz Festival

The CHS Symphonic Jazz and 1st Block Jazz bands performed to an enthusiastic crowd on Saturday, April 13, 2019.  It was an honor to perform for the collegiate festival, thank you Dr. Ben Geyer for the invitation!  If you missed the performance, the bands will perform again at the Band BBQ on May 2, 2019.  Do you have your tickets?!

Audition Results

Our students demonstrated fantastic growth this audition.  Allowing the students to perform scales with music seemed to lessen anxiety and motivate them to attempt more scales, which was the goal!  I look forward to seeing to see if this trend continues!  Scales are an item that students should be practicing regularly.  If your child would like to improve their audition results next time please encourage them to practice their scales daily.  Daily scale practice will improve their tone, their dexterity, general coordination and comfort of holding the instrument, strengthen their embouchure, solidify muscle memory, and improve musical confidence.

Here are the band class placements for Fall 2019.  All of these students will combine to create our marching band roster!  I look forward to finalizing that roster as we receive commitment fees and have forms turned in.  You can access the forms here.  You can pay fees here.
