A Great Start To The Week Ahead

Congratulations to our Winter Guard!

Yesterday the winter guard competed at the Knoxville Winter Guard International (WGI) Regional! They placed 5th in prelims and 3rd in finals! Way to go ladies!!! We are so proud of you! Come out and watch them compete this Saturday at Villa Rica High School!

Schedule for the Week

  • Wednesday – percussion training – 3:30-5:15
  • Thursday – Winter guard – 4:00 – 9:00

District Honor Band

Congratulations again to all the the junior high and high school students that participated in District Honor Band this weekend in Ringgold, GA. The concerts were amazing and the students represented the Trojan Band with class and excellence.

Looking At Next Week

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

I hope that you remembered to pay your trip deposit for Hollywood!  If you have not paid for you or your student, please contact Meredith Harris at or 678-850-8317. We have over 120 students committed plus chaperones!  It will be an amazing opportunity for our band program!

Don’t forget to mail out your Make Me a Whole Person forms out to friends and family that may be willing to donate to your student’s trip!

Please note: we are no longer accepting deposits through Revtrak, but we will be accepting donations for Make Me a Whole Person through Revtrak until November, cash and checks are also options.

GSU in Concert THIS WEEK! Thursday, February 8th!

Georgia State University Wind Ensemble is performing a special performance for our community at 7:00PM in the Mabry Arts Center.  Admission is free and open to the public.  Attendance is required for all Carrollton High School band students.  GSU is preparing for the College Band Directors National Association Conference, so this will be an inspiring performance for our students!  Don’t miss it!

Reminders for the Week

Good morning! A couple of reminders for the week:

  • Congratulations to our Winter Guard for finishing 1st in their class at Saturday’s competition at Etowah High School! The girls compete again this Saturday at Kennesaw Mountain HS.
  • Hollywood Trip deposits are due THIS Friday!!  A $50 non-refundable deposit is due for EACH person planning to go on the trip. So, $50 for your student and $50 for each chaperone or family member in your family that will be joining us on the trip. The trip is November 23-27, 2018. Cash or checks (made payable to CHS band boosters) can be turned in to the band room. Credit card deposit payments can be made at:
  • Wind Ensemble rehearsal, Tuesday, 3:30-6 pm.

Holiday Season In Full Swing For The Trojan Band

It has been such an honor to cheer on our Mighty Trojans!  What a great season! Congratulations to all of our football players and the athletics staff for an awesome year!  We look forward to next season!

I hope that each of you had a fabulous Thanksgiving and spent time with those you love!  We have a few more events before Christmas!

Holiday Wishes Parade

This Thursday, November 30th, the band will participate in the Carrollton Holiday Wishes Parade. The parade begins at 5:30 pm. The route is different this year so please refer to the attached photo.  ALL marching band members will need to secure a traditional Santa hat to wear for the parade in addition to their marching band uniform.  

Schedule for the Week

  • Monday: Winter Guard rehearsal 4pm – 9pm
  • Tuesday: Parade Rehearsal 3:30pm – 4:30pm
    • Winter Guard rehearsal following the parade rehearsal until 9:00pm
  • Thursday: Carrollton Holiday Christmas Parade
    • In Uniform by 4:00PM
    • Depart at 4:30PM
    • Step-Off 5:30PM

District Honor Band

Students who have signed up for District Honor Band have auditions on Saturday, December 9 at East Paulding High School.  Our scheduled time is 1:00PM.  Students should arrive by 12:30PM to register and warm-up before auditioning.  Auditions will be listened to on a first come, first served basis.  So once you are finished warming up, please report to your assigned room and get in line for your audition.  Judges are at lunch from 12:00-1:00, so if you arrive at 12:30 and warm-up, you should be able to get in line around 12:50 and be one of the first to audition after lunch.

Decorating for the Christmas Parade

Want to help decorate the Trojan Band transfer truck for the Christmas parade?  Do you have any extra lights, wreaths, garland, etc., that we could use to decorate with?  Join us tomorrow, Monday November 27th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at the band room. Bring your decorations and Christmas cheer and let’s decorate for the parade!!

Holiday Concert

Coming up soon is the Christmas concert on December 12th at 7:00 pm in the Mabry Arts Center. This is sure to be a festive and fun evening.  We are sharing the concert with our choir and drama departments.  Make plans to be there and tell your family and friends to join us as well!
