Last week was another exciting and memorable one for the Trojan Band!
On Friday night, we traveled to Archer High School to support our Trojans and experienced a little unexpected excitement along the way when one of our buses had mechanical trouble. Our bus drivers remained calm, kept our students safe, and worked together with our staff to adjust quickly. With a little rearranging, we were able to fit everyone safely onto five buses instead of six and continue our trip.
Before that adventure, our football team delivered another astounding victory, improving to 6-0 as we head into our bye week before beginning region play in October! It was a late night, but our students were back bright and early Saturday morning for a full day as we prepared for our first marching competition of the season.
On Saturday, the Trojan Band competed at the Ring of Fire 2 Marching Band Competition, hosted by Sonoraville High School, and our students put on a show! The performance was beautiful. The crowd responded enthusiastically in all the right places, and it was incredibly rewarding to hear the cheers throughout the performance. The judges agreed, awarding our students Superior ratings in every caption, continuing an incredible tradition of excellence with 53 consecutive years of Superior ratings!
Our Trojan Band earned an overall score of 92.67, the second-highest score of the entire competition. We also finished 2nd in the Gold Division and 2nd Overall in each of the captions: Band, Percussion, Color Guard, and Drum Major.
Congratulations to Cass High School, who was named Grand Champion of the competition. Although we did not have an opportunity to see their performance, we congratulate their students and staff on an outstanding accomplishment.
We are incredibly proud of our students, not simply because of the scores and ratings they received, but because of the way they performed, represented Carrollton, and responded to a demanding weekend. From a late Friday night, unexpected transportation challenges, and a long competition day on Saturday, they carried themselves with professionalism, performed with courage, and represented our community with class!
Thank you to our parents, staff, volunteers, bus drivers, and everyone who helped make the weekend possible. We have plenty of work still ahead of us, but this was a tremendous first competition performance for Guiding Light.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1 – UPDATED TIME
We have updated our practice time on Thursday, October 1 to right after school. There is a football game that evening that will not start until later in the evening, which might prevent us from getting in the stadium. Dr. Carr has worked with Coach King to allow the band to use the stadium right after school on October 1, so that the band can prepare properly for the competition on October 3. We will also still plan on meeting right after school on Friday, October 2, as listed in the handbook and on the website.
Super Bowl of Sound | October 3 | Central-Carroll HS

Make plans to attend the competition on October 3. Again, we want you there cheering louder than all of the other parents. This will be our Senior’s last competition. Let’s continue to support them big and cheer for them very loudly! You can get your tickets on GoFan using the QR above of by using this link: Super Bowl of Sound Tickets.

Help Us Find Community Sponsors

Our band families are some of our best ambassadors in the community! If you know a business, organization, or individual who may be interested in supporting the Carrollton Trojan Band, please consider sharing our Band Sponsorship Flyer. Students will receive 10% of the sponsorship to assist with their band fees. We have physical copies in the band room if you’d like a few to share with potential partners. Sponsorships provide meaningful opportunities and experiences for our students while allowing our community partners to support and be connected with the Trojan Band.
