Grand Champions!

It was a wonderful week of performances for the Trojan Band! We enjoyed sharing Guiding Light with our Carroll County community on Tuesday, then returned to Central-Carroll on Saturday for the Super Bowl of Sound, where our students finished their competitive season as Grand Champions.

Tuesday’s Carroll County Marching Exhibition brought together bands from Carrollton, Bowdon, Temple, Mount Zion, Villa Rica, and Central. It was great to see outstanding performances from all bands and celebrate each other. Thank you to Carroll County Fine Arts Director, Neil Ruby, for organizing such an incredible evening, and to the Central-Carroll Band staff and parents for hosting. We appreciate the opportunity to come together through music while supporting a scholarship that benefits band students and celebrates Dr. Norman Padgett.

On Saturday, we returned to Central-Carroll for our final competition of the season. Our students earned Superior ratings in all captions and brought home Grand Champion honors!

We were especially pleased to receive the Most Entertaining Band award. Sharing “Guiding Light” with an audience has been one of the joys of this season, and being recognized for that connection made the evening even more rewarding.

The Trojan Band received the following awards:

  • Grand Champion
  • Most Entertaining Band
  • Maroon Division Champion
  • 1st Place Open Class Band, Colorguard, Percussion, and Drum Major
  • Champion Guard
  • Champion Percussion
  • Champion Front Ensemble
  • Highest Visual
  • Highest Music
  • Highest General Effect
  • Superior Ratings in All Captions

Congratulations to Woodward Academy on their Silver Division Championship! Thank you again to the Central-Carroll Band parents for the time and effort they devoted to welcoming and hosting the participating bands and their families.

Huge shout-out to our staff: Zachary Nelson, Maria Menendez, David Trumble, Barbara Dothard, Tyler Boyle, Christian Videtto, Sophia Padilla, and Brooke Brady. Each of them brings enormous passion, incredible talents, care, and knowledge to our program, and our students benefit from their work every day. We are fortunate to have them working with our students every day!

Additionally, our parents deserve a huge thank-you as well! From preparing meals and helping with uniforms to moving equipment and handling transportation, you take care of so much behind the scenes. Seeing you in the stands cheering for our students makes these days even better. We appreciate all you do for our band family.

Shout-out to Mr. Blakemore and his Computer Science Students!! The project that you designed, created, and implemented to add lights to our shakos has added a wow factor to the presentation of Guiding Light and elevated the entire experience. Thank you for your persistence while working through the troubleshooting to get the final touches in place in time for last night’s performance. The lights worked beautifully and helped make the show breathtaking!

Our competitive season is complete, but we still have plenty of music to share. We will continue supporting our Trojans at football games and will perform “Guiding Light” in exhibition at our home show, the Legacy of Champions.

Students, we are proud of the work you have put into this season and everything you accomplished together this week. We look forward to continuing to improve and enjoying the performances still ahead.

Go Trojans! AND Thank you so much to Bri Nitz for these incredible photos from Saturday!

ATVs Needed for LoC

October is here, and that means Legacy of Champions (CHS Trojan Band‘s competition) is just around the corner. The event will be Saturday, October 24th. We will need all parents’ help that day in addition to our students working and performing as exhibition that evening. We are hosting 21 competing bands in addition to 3 college bands! It’s going to be a great day, but we need your help to provide the best hospitality to these visiting ensembles.

We are looking for equipment to help haul band gear, specifically front ensemble pieces. We need trailers like the one seen here and vehicles that can pull it (ATVs, side by sides, etc.). Trailers need to have a ramp for rolling equipment on. It also needs to have some form of railing/wall so equipment cannot roll off errantly. The vehicle could be anything with a trailer hitch that is powerful enough to pull a similar trailer.

If you have one or both and would like to let us borrow it, we would LOVE to talk with you. If you would rather not let someone else drive your equipment, we would LOVE for you to join our team and help us make band students smile!

We could also use golf carts, tents, and other volunteers in having the best weekend of the year! If you can help us out, please let me know. You can DM me here or email me at amanda.ledbetter@carrolltoncityschools.net. (If you can’t help, would you please share this with your friends?)

All In One Sale | Now Until October 29

All In One Sale packets were passed out last week. Each packet contained a letter with the following message:

“Dear Trojan Band Booster Parent,

We want to extend a special welcome to the parents of our freshman band members new to Carrollton High School this year. Each year, the Boosters hold several fundraisers, including the All-In-One Sale in the fall and the BBQ in the spring.

As a result of the hard work that you do, the Band Boosters are able to provide many things for our outstanding band that would not otherwise be possible. The more that we sell this fall, the more we are able to provide for our band.  Most importantly, this helps to keep our band fees low.

To accomplish our goals, we are asking that each band family support the sale.  Parents, this is a busy time of the year for our band kids.  Therefore, we ask for your help in making this sale a success. Ask your family, neighbors, friends, and employers if they would like to make a purchase.  If a customer does not want to purchase the meat or dessert, ask for a donation – any amount will help us reach our goal.

Enclosed in this All-In-One packet, you will find business cards with a QR code that will take you to our Carrollton Band Booster Shop, and our standard order forms. We are encouraging everyone to purchase online at our store for the ease of tracking; however, our standard order form is available. When completing the order form, please make sure that the details are legible. You do not need physical order forms when purchasing online. We will have Gourmet Smoked Cajun Turkey, Bacon Wrapped Pork Tenderloin, Spiral Sliced Ham, Hickory Smoked Peppered Bacon, Hickory Smoked Bacon, Kolaches, Country Pork Sausage, Jalapeno Poppers, Natchitoches Meat Pie, Pecan Pie, New York Style Cheesecake, Chunky Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, White Chocolate Macadamia Cookie Dough, and a Variety of Jams and  Jellies for sale. Our community is very supportive of the All-In-One sale – they are just waiting for us to ask them to buy!

To place an online order, please visit – chsbandshop.com

Important dates:

  • October  – Begin selling!!!
  • October 29th – Turn in packets during the school day in the band room
  • November 20th 9 AM- 6 PM & November  21st, 9 AM- NOON – Pickup items at North Point Baptist Church, 1400 Cedar Street, Carrollton, Georgia 30117.

We are all working together to make this sale a success.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call.  Thank you again for your participation in this sale and for all that you do to support our children and our great band!”

In addition to the letter, there were order forms and business cards sharing how to order online. Please help us spread the word by sharing the information with as many people as possible. Here is a quick link that you can share for people to order online through the Booster Webstore: trojan.gold/AllinOneSale. Thank you!

Help Us Find Community Sponsors

Our band families are some of our best ambassadors in the community! If you know a business, organization, or individual who may be interested in supporting the Carrollton Trojan Band, please consider sharing our Band Sponsorship Flyer. Students will receive 10% of the sponsorship to assist with their band fees. We have physical copies in the band room if you’d like a few to share with potential partners. Sponsorships provide meaningful opportunities and experiences for our students while allowing our community partners to support and be connected with the Trojan Band.
