Last week was another incredible week. On Thursday, we finally had the opportunity to host our Annual Trojan Night. Thank you so much for the extraordinary efforts from our band parents who prepared meals, served meals, set up and ran the band shoppe, conducted a meeting, and provided incredible support to our students. The students performed enthusiastically in the amp, had terrific first runs of the show for our community, and reflected on the importance of working together and staying true to our principles during the candlelight ceremony.

Trojan Night Hype Video
Friday night, we traveled to Rome, and it was an incredible evening. The show this year has a puzzle of logistics to put together, which takes an army to execute. Thankfully, we have an army of students and parents who are putting in the work! Our Athletic Director, Elizabeth Sanders, stopped me during the 3rd quarter to brag on our students and to tell me that this is her favorite show she has ever seen us do. She mentioned that seeing the boats on the field and how the students interact with them during the show was exciting. I look forward to seeing the show continue to develop and am so thankful for the tireless dedication that is being shown by our students and parents. This Friday we are at home in Grisham Stadium, where we will perform our 1st 2 movements again, followed by Battle Hymn. We will also be celebrating our seniors this week with a breakfast on Friday, a ceremony during pre-game, and marching back into the band room post-game.

- All seniors participating in fall sports/activities will be recognized before the first home football game on Friday, August 28. Each senior will be escorted by their parents/guardians. Due to the volume of participants, siblings, boyfriends/girlfriends, etc., may not participate in the ceremony. September 4 Football – Band Performing at the Carrollton Amp
When this date was mentioned at the parent meeting in April, I announced that the plan was for the band to host and perform locally to support our football team since we are not traveling to Louisiana, but the details had not been finalized.
Our band will perform as part of the game broadcast at the Carrollton Amp on the Square. We will travel to the Amp on buses, perform for our community, and return to CHS after the game when we are finished performing. Although we will not be able to perform halftime at the Amp, we will be able to perform a standstill of our show in addition to showcasing our stand tunes in a more intimate setting. It will surely be an exciting evening for our students and our community!
Help Us Find Community Sponsors

Our band families are some of our best ambassadors in the community! If you know a business, organization, or individual who may be interested in supporting the Carrollton Trojan Band, please consider sharing our Band Sponsorship Flyer. Students will receive 10% of the sponsorship to assist with their band fees. We have physical copies in the band room if you’d like a few to share with potential partners. Sponsorships provide meaningful opportunities and experiences for our students while allowing our community partners to support and be connected with the Trojan Band.

Excellence is the quality of being very good, outstanding, or superior. During every moment while being in the CHS Trojan Band, I’m reminded not only of our standard of excellence but also of our tradition of excellence, and the last football game was no exception.
On Friday, not only did we have our first football game, but it was also an away game, meaning we had to haul a total of 16 boats, 6 docks, 200+ kids, many more volunteers and staff, every sousaphone and percussive instrument, and the entirety of the front ensemble, plus 3 drum major podiums. It seemed like a recipe for disaster. And to be honest, it felt like a disaster during the game. Running around, maneuvering past frantic parents, armada assembly, and 10ft tall microphones all contributed to one of the most stressful moments of all time for our equipment captains and logistics captains.
I was 1,000,000% sure that something was genuinely going to go wrong. I was placing bets on whether we’d accidentally leave a boat in Rome or the chance we’d somehow take home a 17th one. And yet, through the eyes of the people outside the band, I received multiple texts from cheerleaders and fans that it seemed like we had everything under control down to the last screw and bolt.
It takes an impressive kind of person to be able to manage that much stress in such a loud, explosive environment and somehow manage to pull it off so well that even Rome’s fans were shocked. Our band is full of excellent individuals like that who can make it seem like we have everything under control, even when we don’t.
Special shoutout to our Audio Crew Captain, Prop Captains, and Logistics Heads
