Open House Thursday

Last week we had some more fantastic rehearsals. Thanks to the students’ consistent hard work and the parents’ tremendous support, we have already fielded half of the marching band show. We look forward to performing movements 1 & 2 for our friends and families soon. We met with the seniors last Monday and decided that the best night to reschedule Trojan Night was Thursday, August 20.

We look forward to performing for everyone that night and concluding with our candlelight ceremony. Please RSVP here so that we are sure to have plenty of hamburgers and hot dogs for all in attendance.

Trojan Night • Rescheduled

Pre-Planning Performances

Thank you so much for making the effort to get your children to school for the pre-planning performances. We know that the timing of the performances was not convenient, but the teachers REALLY appreciated the spirited welcome provided by our students. Monday, our students performed for both the high school and elementary school to welcome teachers back for their first meeting of the year, and on Wednesday our students welcomed all personnel back after the annual System-Wide Convocation. All performances were outstanding and appreciated by the staff!

DCI 2026 Week 7

Reese Roenigk (Clarinet, Sophomore)

Top 6 in World Class

  1. Blue Coats
  2. Blue Devils
  3. Carolina Crown
  4. Boston Crusaders
  5. Santa Clara Vanguard
  6. Phantom Regiment

These Corps are the people we should be looking out for in the next few weeks leading up to the Championship; these are the contenders for who will win Grand Champions in Indianapolis, and who will be so close to victory, but lose by a few small points.

Current Events

This past week, the DCI Eastern Classic was in Allentown, Pennsylvania, practically cementing the Blue Coats’ chances of winning. Coming out victorious, yet again, it seems like no one can stop their momentum. Coming in second, the Blue Devils could be our only hope in knocking down the dynasty that the Blue Coats have built over the 2026 season.

Lower in the ranks, CHS fan favorite, Carolina Crown, is locked in a heated battle against 2025’s champions, the Boston Crusaders, and only time will tell who makes the top 3 and who falls just short of glory.

Corp Spotlight: The Spirit of Atlanta

Created just an hour or so away from Carrollton, the World Class Corp, Spirit of Atlanta has been a consistent contender over the years for DCI gold. Currently, they are fighting to be in the top 12 to make a finals appearance in Indianapolis, which would be an amazing way to celebrate their 50th season!

Most known for their iconic shows like Georgia on My Mind, Land of Make Believe, and this year’s show, Golden Summer. They have impeccable brass and emotionally driven ideas and performances, rather than abstract concepts. Hopefully, Spirit of Atlanta will pull through, and we can all cheer them on during Finals.

What sets DCI apart? (#6)

Losing a competition has got to be one of the worst feelings of all time. You spend weeks on end, hours a day, re-running drill over and over again, baking in the Georgia heat, just for you to lose. And sometimes, just losing isn’t even the worst part. It’s when you lose, but just barely. It’s when you lose by 0.66 points and are awarded second place. 0.66 points could be a rounding error, yet still you have to deal with the brutal honesty that you were so close to victory but still lost. When this happens in DCI, which it happens a lot, they don’t give up or let anything faze them; they take their losses as an opportunity to get better, then become better.

Leadership Lesson (#6)

DCI Corps take losses as an opportunity to prove themselves. They understand that one loss doesn’t ruin a season. They also understand that if you let one small mistake take over your headspace, that’s when the season is over. As long as we keep pushing to be better, a loss really doesn’t mean anything, because there’s always another competition for us to win.

Movements 1 and 2 are Done!

After 3 weeks of working, the CHS Trojan Band has learned all of movements 1 and 2. We already know half of the full show, and school hasn’t even started yet. The progress we have made and the journey we’re about to go on will be amazing, and we hope to see you there along with us!

Health Class – PAST DUE

Everything is past due at this point, but you can continue working. This is your final week to get everything done before school starts, and you have more classwork to contend with. Parents, please check on your child’s progress and motivate them to finish up this week.
