Last Friday, we ended our 2nd week of band camp, and although the weather prevented us from having Trojan Night to finish camp, the work has set us up for another strong season! We are so thankful for Chase Pauley, Rachel Breaux, Stephanie Hanlin, Lucas Maradiaga, Becca O’Hara, Walker McCullough, Hannah Royals, Jordan Williams, Ethan Butler-Paige, and Kira Babbs for joining our staff for the week and sharing their expertise with our students. They were outstanding mentors to our students as they assisted us with learning our music and drill for the show.
We appreciate everyone’s understanding of the postponement on Friday. We will meet with our seniors on Monday to ask which date works best for them before rescheduling Trojan Night. Our potential dates are Thursday, July 30 beginning at 6:00 PM or after school starts on Thursday, August 20, at 6:00 PM. This will allow us to host everything during a regularly scheduled Thursday night rehearsal without adding an extra evening to the calendar.
Huge THANK YOU to all of our parents, volunteers, and Carrollton Nutrition Staff who devoted many hours to keeping our students fed, hydrated, and happy! The food was outstanding, you spoiled us with treats, and provided encouragement throughout the week. Thank you for volunteering and loving on all of our students like they were your own. We had a lot of happy kids all week despite long hours and strong efforts because of your support. You have been a blessing to all of us, thank you!!

Trojan Night • POSTPONED
Trojan Night was postponed due to the severe weather that we experienced on Friday. We are meeting on Monday with the seniors to determine which day will work best for them and their families – either July 30 or August 20. Both are upcoming Thursday evening rehearsals that will allow us to host Trojan Night properly for our students. We will send out an announcement once we have the date figured out.
Pre-Planning Performances
Our students have been requested to help welcome teachers back at the high school and elementary school this year on Monday. Students should wear their band shorts and show shirts for the performances. Please arrive by 7:20 AM so that you can grab your instrument/equipment and report to one of the schools. Section leaders will help divide up their sections evenly in the morning so that we have a good representation at each location. Both performances begin at 7:30 AM and finish at 8:00 AM. We will be performing some stand tunes to welcome teachers back to campus.
On Wednesday, we will perform in the amp right outside of the Mabry Arts Center as teachers depart from the system wide convocation, then have Dominos afterwards before dismissing. We will wear our band shorts and show shirts again. Students should report to the band room by 10:15 AM to get their instruments/equipment and to the AMP by 10:40 AM. The convocation will be finished sometime between 10:40 and 11:00, but our students begin performing at the conclusion of the convocation. We will perform until about 11:15-11:20 AM, and then feed the students pizza in the band room.
DCI 2026 Week 6
Leadership Outing to DCI Atlanta
Our Trojan Band leadership had the opportunity to travel to Center Parc Stadium on Saturday to watch the Southeastern Championship. We had the opportunity to visit the lots where the corps were warming up to watch the process behind the scenes and to see an incredible lineup of corps go head to head as they progress towards finals on August 8.
We witnessed performances by the Spartans, The Academy, Music City, Crossmen, Spirit of Atlanta, the Blue Knights, the Troopers, the Colts, the Blue Stars, the Boston Crusaders, Carolina Crown, the Blue Devils, and the Bluecoats. It was a great evening for the marching arts as we saw performers achieving in our activity at the highest level while performing complex, interesting, and entertaining shows.
Our students were outstanding ambassadors of our community. I look forward to them sharing their experiences with their peers as we all get excited to watch the finals togehter in the band room for the DCI Watch Party. This is an upcoming free event. Parents are welcome to participate too! Right now the Bluecoats are still in first place, but the Blue Devils made up some ground with their performance on Saturday. The top 5 corps, Santa Clara Vanguard, Boston Crusaders, Carolina Crown, Blue Devils, and Blue Coats, have already broken the 90 point threshold, and Spirit of Atlanta is currently in 12th place with an 83.425 after this weekend. Spirit is celebrating their 50th season this year. They have been on the cusp of a finals appearance the last few years, making finals would be a great way to celebrate this milestone!
Health Class – PAST DUE
Although all of the coursework is due already, if you still have access to Edgenuity, please keep working to get this class finished! Students still have 2 weeks until school starts for them. Use these 2 weeks to finish this class so that you do not have an extra class once the year starts.
