This weekend 3 of our Trojan Band members were featured as members of the Georgia Music Educators Association All-State Bands. They began rehearsals on Thursday, which culminated in outstanding concerts on Saturday evening. Kylie Maxwell earned a spot on bass clarinet in the GMEA 9-10 Concert Band under the direction of Dr. Catharine Sinon Bushman, assistant professor of music at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. Madison Pate earned a spot on tenor saxophone in the GMEA 11-12 Symphonic Band under the direction of Dr. Cynthia Johnston Turner, who serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Music at Wilfrid Laurier University in Toronto, Canada. Connor Haley earned a spot on bassoon in the 11-12 Symphonic Band under the direction of Colonel Don Schofield, the Commander of the United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C..
Please help me in congratulating them on a very successful weekend. They served as ambassadors of our community with the highest levels of professionalism during rehearsals, while exploring Athens during lunch and dinner breaks, and in the concerts. Kylie, Madison, and Connor – we are so very proud of you! Thank you for being outstanding examples for your peers. Your efforts are noticed and appreciated! Congratulations on an outstanding weekend!
