Final Week Before Break

I hope you realize as much as we do how incredible your child is?! This has been an exceptional first half of the school year! The grit, determination, and perseverance that our students displayed while pouring all of their love and energy into learning music and performing it for our community has been remarkable. Beginning in July we had long, hot rehearsals to learn our show. The hard work paid off with an outstanding marching season resulting in many awards, including Grand Champions at the Super Bowl of Sound hosted by Central. After our competitive season concluded we prepared an Armed Forces Salute that we shared in addition to a few more patriotic piece at our Veteran’s Day Concert, Veteran’s Day Assembly, and at Half-time. We cheered alongside our cheerleaders, dance team, and student section for our football team at extra home game playoffs, traveled to Colquitt County, and continued our spirited support at the State Championship game.

In the midst of the last couple of weeks our schedule has been jam packed with performances designed to serve our community. After arriving home at 4:00AM from the Colquitt County game, our students performed energetically for our Carrollton Christmas Parade! A few of the students even traveled to Ringgold to audition for the final All-State Round before returning for the parade! Then we shared a Christmas concert with our chorus, which was an outstanding gift to our community. The Friday following the concert began with a system wide pep-rally celebrating our football team’s advancement to the championship game. To see everyone from the district inside the stadium was an amazing experience! As soon as we concluded, the jazz band loaded a bus to visit the Kiwanis luncheon and performed a 3 tune jazz set that concluded with about 20 minutes of our favorite stands tunes to celebrate our football season. On Saturday morning, more than 50 of our students traveled to East Paulding High School to audition for the GMEA District VII Honor Band. They had just enough time to grab a quick lunch before reporting for the football team send off, where we performed another pep rally before loading the buses to follow the team to Center Parc stadium.

Our Trojans faced an overwhelming foe at the championship on Saturday, but they did not allow that to be an excuse to give up. They continued to fight hard until the last play of the game was over. It was an exciting game full of big plays from each side! Our team should keep their heads held high, because they had a great season and our band students should be just as proud. Although the outcome was not what we all had hoped for, it will be a memorable season and our Trojans will be back many times in the near future!

Please take a moment to praise your child for going above and beyond to serve our community these past few weeks. We are incredibly proud of all of our students and look forward to having a week with a little slower pace as we finish out the calendar year.

Christmas Sponsorship

Last week many students stayed after to help us wrap the gifts for the families we have sponsored. One of the families has already picked up their gifts and they asked me to share their thanks with all of you! Thank you again to all of our generous families who came together to make this Christmas special for these families in need.

Christmas Concert

This was such a fun evening! Congratulations on a wonderful show!! We performed for a packed house and it was so special to share the stage with Ms. Lowry and her chorus students!

District Honor Band Results

We had over 50 students who traveled to East Paulding High School extra early on Saturday to audition for District Honor Band! Each one of them has sacrificed many hours in preparation of this very competitive event. This year, the students auditioned early in preparation of the state championship game. We are extremely thankful for the efforts from and proud of all the students who auditioned this year! Congratulations to the students who were invited to participate:

All-State Jazz Band

Although we had 3 students audition a week ago Saturday for All-State Jazz. The recordings are still be processed so results have not yet been released. Please help me congratulate Madison Pate, Nathan Stagliano, and Justin Arnold for auditioning for this prestigious ensemble last weekend!

Amazon • 2 Ways to Help • Snacks Needed

We were BLESSED all season with many generous donations from our Wish List. Thank you to everyone who purchased snacks and sent them to us for the students while we traveled this season. Our students had plenty all season thanks to your generosity! If you are using Amazon this holiday season to order gifts for your loved ones, if you use Amazon Smile, Amazon will make a donation to our band program. The prices are the same either way. Amazon Smile just allows you to designate a charity for Amazon to support with your purchases. You do have to use the smile.amazon.com URL though for your purchases to count. Thank you for your continued support of our students!
