Successful Start!

Band Camp 2022 Hype Video

The last two weeks have been exceptional and just the energy needed to get this machine started! Our Students worked incredibly hard learning complex music, drill, and choreography. This past week we were joined by incredibly talented and passionate staff who poured into our students and helped us progress even faster. Thank you to Rachel Breaux, Aileen Castenada, Rebecca Parris, Zavier Breedlove, Matthew Harris, Lainey Driver, Jon Buchholz, Chase Pauley, and Luke Bass for spending your week with us! The students enjoyed learning from you and you helped us to provide more individualized instruction for all of them.

Additionally Pierre Brown, Sophia Padilla, Brooke Brady, Brandon Cunningham, Tyler Boyle, David Trumble, Maria Menendez, Zach Nelson continued to motivate and inspire our students with well planned rehearsals and high expectations. These past two weeks were a continuation of the tremendous work that our Colorguard and Percussion put in throughout the season and we are beginning to see some of the first fruits of their labor.

The past two weeks were made easier by support of our Administrative Assistant Barbara Dothard as well as Band Parents who organized uniforms, prepared and served meals, set up and cleaned up before and after breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while planning events to spoil our members. We are thankful for the Pelican’s, Sundae Bar, and Pool Party! They were perfect additions to add excitement to weeks full of heat and hard work. We are incredibly blessed by our parents! We couldn’t work as hard without your support. Thank you! Special shout out to the sponsors who helped us with our meals last week!

Our students HuSTL’d all week long and began a new tradition of yelling “hustle!!” On their way back to reset in the drill. There is something special about the energy this year! We are enthused about continuing our progress next week.

Candlelight Ceremony Postponement

On Friday, we concluded band camp yesterday with an outstanding preview performance of the first 4 minutes of the show! Due to the high possibility of inclement weather, we postponed the candlelight ceremony until August 18. Seniors and student leadership discussed options and elected to move that Thursday rehearsal to 5:00pm – 8:00pm so that we can begin the ceremony at 8:30pm.

Thank you to the many parents who volunteered to assist us prepare the uniforms for photos, pick up food for breakfast, prepare the food for lunch, host a concession stand for special treats, line up Pelicans, prepare a sundae bar, and organize the pool party. It was great to be able to reward the students’ hard work with all of the special extras that you prepared for us! Thank you!

Show Shirt Reprint

We noticed a misprint on the show shirts. Mr. Carr apologized to everyone at Trojan Night about the misprint. Although the mistake should have been caught during the proof process, our vendor has agreed to reprint all of the shirts. They have asked that we collect all shirts that were handed out so that we can trade them in for corrected shirts. Most students returned their shirt after Trojan Night, if by chance one made it home please bring it back tomorrow. We are collecting any shirts that were sold before the mistake was discovered as well. Please help us keep a great relationship with our local vendor by assisting us in returning your show shirt for a corrected one.

  • Tuesday: Full Band 6:00pm – 9:00pm
  • Thursday: Full Band 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Sponsorship Drive

We are in the middle of our sponsorship drive. Please email Candie Hicks, our booster club treasurer for more information. She has a list of businesses in the community and sponsorship forms. Please do not just ask random businesses without reaching out to Candie, because we want to be sure to not to bombard our community with multiple requests. We have a very supportive community and we want to remain respectful of their generosity. If you have a personal connection with certain businesses, please reach out to Candie to let her know and we will do our best to organize it where you can approach those businesses without other students competing for the same support. Please do not reach out to a business unless it is in the packet that you were assigned or you have reached out to Candie and she has responded. Thank you for your assistance in keeping this sponsorship drive organized and respectful of our community!

Students will receive 10% of all sponsorships secured by them or their parents. Thank you for reaching out to Candie Hicks so that we are not all competing for the same businesses, but doing our best to reach out to unique supporters.

Candie will be available tomorrow evening in the band room lobby during the end of band rehearsal (8:00pm – 9:00pm). Please return all sponsorship packets by August 19. Students will not receive credit for sponsorships sold after August 19.

T-Shirt Design Contest

We are wanting to add items to the Band Shoppe for our students and thought it would be fun to allow students to submit a design for a shirt. The designs will be voted on and the winning submission will receive a free shirt! To submit a design please email your submission to our booster president, Robert Moore.

Health Class • Are you done yet?

9th Grade students enrolled in marching band or new band members (guard included) who haven’t taken Health and PE yet should complete this online health class. All of the information is below and can be accessed using the “Health in Band” link at the top of this page. Students have access to the info now and should have already started working on it. All of the health coursework is due by October, but I highly recommend you complete it these next 2 weeks if you haven’t yet. Parents, please double check with your child that they have completed this course. Finishing before they start the school year will remove a considerable amount of stress from their plate. Your child has plenty of time to still complete this if they dedicate a considerable amount of time to it these next 2 weeks.
