Christmas Concert

Reminder: Although students have recently been fitted for our concert attire, we will be wearing holiday sweaters for this concert. We will begin wearing our concert attire with our first concert next semester on March 1. If you ordered a Tuxedo the cost is $230.00, and if you ordered a Dress the cost is $115.00. Please pay Ms. Dothard at your earliest convenience.

We will be presenting our Christmas Concert a little differently. All bands will remain on stage for the duration of the concert and the percussion ensembles/jazz ensemble will perform in the wings of the auditorium.

Itinerary:

  • 6:15PM All Band Students Report to the stage for warm-up
  • 6:30PM SANTA will be in the lobby visiting with guests as you arrive
  • 7:00PM Concert Starts

After the concert, we will not take the equipment back to the band room like normal because we need it again on Tuesday night for our CUES and CJHS concert.

District Honor Band

On Saturday, we had many students travel to East Paulding High School to audition for the GMEA District VII Honor Band. In addition to being a way for students to stand out when applying for scholarships, honor bands allow students to meet students from other schools who have common interests with them. Many of our students make friends through honor bands who could be potential room-mates during college, or just another friendly face when they return to the honor bands the next year.

Special thank you to our private teachers who assisted our students in preparing for the audition! We are very fortunate to be visited by Brandon Cunningham, Emma Eddleman, Michael Maxwell, Christopher Mothersole, and Clara Vargas and additionally have students who study with Nancy Collier, Ben Lively, and Cale Self. Preparing for honor bands takes extra work from our students! I hope that our students understand that regardless if they have the opportunity to participate, the work itself is the reward. The growth experienced during the audition preparation process will continue to serve you as you continue your musical journey. We are proud of all of our students who participated in the auditions. Congratulations on setting a goal and working diligently towards achieving it. Please help us to congratulate the following students for their selection in this year’s district honor band!

Chick-fil-a Peach Bowl

Mr. Carr received an email regarding the Chick-fil-a PeachBowl and out of an abundance of caution the high school bands portion of the pre-game ceremony has been cancelled due to the new variants of the coronavirus by the event directors. We will still march in the parade and will receive tickets to fanfest for our parade participation.

Fanfest is a huge pep-rally for the 2 college teams. More information about fanfest can be found here: https://chick-fil-apeachbowl.com/sports/2021/11/22/fanfest.aspx. It is a very fun and interactive event that will be fun for our students to experience.
