We are in the process of recruiting members for our colorguard. We will be hosting formal auditions at a later date, but at this time we would like all students who are interested to participate through a special Google Classroom. Interested students can join using this code: hkr2jp3

Friday, May 1

Join Mr. Carr as he celebrates the fight against Childhood Cancer in support of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and in honor of Chase McDaniel and Bryan Perez. He will be shaving his head via live stream at 11:00AM. Tune in to our Facebook Page to watch the stream! @chstrojanbands.

Also, if you have not made a deposit for the Liberty Tour trip for next year, Mr. Carr will be at the band room from 5:00pm – 6:00pm to allow you to pay in person. You can still pay via revtrak as well. Deposits are due on May 1.

Trip Update – CHANGES

Friends and fellow band parents,

The booster club executive board and our directors had a call with Mark from Super Holiday Tours about the trip next year.  While we believe that life will return to normal and that the 2020-2021 school year will be an awesome year, we realize that right now there is stress and strain coming from several different directions and uncertainties.  The last thing we want is for there to be additional, undue stress from planning for or paying for the trip.  After speaking with Mark, we are going to hold off on collecting any additional payments for the trip until the start of the next school year (around August, 2020).  Any deposits or payments that were made toward the trip are fully accounted for and are allocated specifically for you or your band student. Once we get to August, Mark will have more information regarding airlines, transportation, and sights. At that time, we can either continue with the current trip or investigate alternative plans or changes that may be necessary considering the circumstances. The wellbeing and safety of our band students are our priorities, but a close second is the experiences that our students can have belonging to the long tradition of the CHS Band program. We do plan on taking a trip and hope to include as many of our Trojan Band students as possible! Thank you for patience and understanding at this time.

2 more days

This is our final week of online learning, the students begin their summer vacation on May 4 and teachers will continue post-planning and professional development through May 26. Here are a few announcements that the school released last week:

  • May 18-22 Senior Week Activities
    • A detailed schedule will be sent to seniors that includes cap and gown pick up, awards, and other celebration opportunities.
  • June 1 at 7:30PM • GRADUATION
    • Inclement weather date – June 2 at 7:30PM
  • July 25 at 7:30 • Prom

Students, continue to complete your work and keep pushing! We are almost finished only one week left. You can do it!!

2020-2021 Trojan Band Leadership Results

Choosing leadership is one of our most difficult tasks of each year, it is something that our staff deliberates about, ponders, continues to observe student behavior, while trying to determine which student leaders will make the largest impact on the band program, and in which role. Thankfully, we have many students who we believe are capable and the talent pool continues to deepen because the senior class and previous leadership continues to invest in our younger students. Sometimes because our students are becoming more talented in many areas, making these decisions is becoming increasingly difficult.

The following students have been challenged to uphold our tradition of excellence by serving their peers throughout the year while striving to positively influence all band students and leave a legacy that others will desire to emulate. Leadership, be on the look out for a Google Meet meeting tomorrow. I’ll send it out in the morning.

2020-2021 Trojan Band Audition Results

I am excited about the auditions that we have heard so far! We understand that not everyone has access to the necessary electronics and have notated students who haven’t been able to complete their audition just year with an (*) asterisk. For those students we did our best to make a judgement based on performance history compared to current audition performances to best estimate which class to place those students who were experiencing hardship. We saw great improvement from all of our students during this process, our incoming 8th graders had very strong auditions as well, and are excited to return in summer to begin making some great memories with these students!
