Farewell #42, We Love You, Godspeed

IMG_9593Last week started on Monday with our concert bands performing our annual Veterans Day Concert. We are so thankful for all of the veterans within our community for their service to our country and we were grateful we were able to honor them during our concert as well as at various assemblies earlier in the day.  At the concert, we performed Song of Hope by Peter Meechan, a beautiful work written for Cancer Blows, a charity event with a mission to raise funds and awareness for cancer research.  We performed as encouragement of our fellow Trojan Chase McDaniel who continued his battle with cancer throughout the week.  Thank you to Dr. Chris Probst, Mr. David Trumble, and Ms. Valerie Vise for sharing your talents with us, it was an inspiring performance.

We then were able to cheer on our Trojans to their first-round playoff victory over Arabia Mountain on Friday night. We were thankful that the rain stopped in time for us to perform in the CHAMP, pre-game on the field, in the stands, and during halftime. Also during halftime, Dr. Pope was presented with the key to the city and Mr. Parkman had the announcer’s booth named in his honor for their tremendous support of our school system.

And congratulations to the Trojan Varsity Cheerleaders on their 2nd place finish at the State Championships in Columbus, GA this past weekend.

And while we are excited about all of the amazing hard work our teams put in this past week, there is something far more important that takes center stage today. We are truly heartbroken by the sad news that our fellow Trojan, friend, and family member Chase McDaniel lost his battle with cancer on Saturday night. We know there were a number of you praying for him and his family and we ask that you please continue praying for his family during this time. We also know that his teammates will be hit by this news and we ask that you continue to pray for them as they prepare to continue their playoff journey without one of their team captains #42. Again, our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with the McDaniel family today.  There is a candlelight vigil on Thursday evening at 8:30 PM in Grisham Stadium, we invite all to attend to show their support of the McDaniel’s during this difficult time.

HEALTH CLASS

Students participating in the health class should be completed with the eADAP course from the GA Department of Drivers Services. Please double-check with your child to verify that they have completed that course and submitted a certificate to me either in person or a PDF via email. This is the most important aspect of the class as it qualifies our students to apply for their driver’s license. Once they have finished the eADAP course online, then they complete the 9 Unit exams via Google Classroom and they are done. Due dates are listed in Classroom to allow students to complete the class before their semester becomes too hectic. I will be lenient with the due dates so long as all coursework is completed and turned in by the Thanksgiving Break. Thank you for your assistance in keeping your child on track.
