Send Off Concert – Tuesday, January 29, 2019

Tuesday’s concert will be one that you do not want to miss.  It is free and open to the public, please help spread the word! Attendance is required for all band students.  

• 6:15 PM Wind Ensemble students report to the stage
• 6:50 PM Concert Band and Symphonic Band students report to the audience
• 7:00PM Concert begins

The concert will last just under and hour.

Scholarship Opportunity: The Kiwanis Showcase

The Kiwanis Showcase is approaching. Download the application and more information.  The showcase is a talent show for instrumentalist and vocalist in the West Ga area.  First place wins a $500 scholarship.  Students can perform as a chamber ensemble, or as soloists.  Applications are due by February 1 and students must commit to performing on February 10 at the local showcase hosted by Center for the Arts and be prepared to perform at the state level on April 27, 2019 in Leesburg, GA if they are chosen as the winner.  I would love to see our students take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!

Trip to Troy • January 31, 2019

Our wind ensemble is traveling to Troy, AL on Thursday, January 31, 2019 to perform at the welcoming concert for the Southeastern United States Honor Band Clinic.  We received this invitation by submitting letters of recommendation and a last year’s LGPE performance recording.  Our group was chosen by an assessment process and we are very excited for this prestigious opportunity.

We are collecting money for breakfast and lunch.  Please bring $15.00 in before we leave for the trip.  $15 will pay for a Chick-fil-a breakfast and CiCi’s pizza buffet for lunch.  Please follow this link: https://goo.gl/8aGT6a to order your breakfast if you haven’t done it yet.

Students should remember to eat a good breakfast before reporting or bring snacks for the bus ride.  

• 7:00AM EST Report to CHS and Load
• 8:00AM EST Depart for Troy
• 10:00AM CST Arrive in Troy, AL for brunch at Chick-fil-a
• 10:45AM CST Depart for the Music Building
• 11:15AM CST In Concert Attire
• 12:00PM CST Concert Warm-Up on stage (and photos)
• 2:00PM CST Performance in the Crosby Theater
• 3:00PM CST Change back into school clothes and have a snack
• 3:30PM CST Depart for CiCi’s
• 5:00PM CST Dinner at CiCi’s Pizza in Auburn, AL
• 6:00PM CST Depart for CHS
• 9:00PM EST Arrive back at CHS approx. (check Remind for up to date ETAs)
