Competition Recap and Senior Night

What a wonderful season! Here are some words reflecting on this past season from our Booster President and Band Director:

Wow! I have loved watching these awesome kids work hard, depend on each other, grow as performers, and polish a touching, powerful, impressive show! Saturday’s performance was amazing! We are blessed to have an outstanding staff that has poured into our kids. Also, thank you to the parents that build the props, load and unload the trucks, push equipment, repair things, feed our kids, chaperone buses, repair and fit uniforms, and come out to cheer on our Trojan Band! I love our band family! – Meredith Harris, Booster President

I am so proud of our Trojan Band! We have had such a wonderful competitive season, full of outstanding support from our parents and tons of growth from our students. The performances this weekend were both FANTASTIC! Despite the rainy evening our band performed their hearts out on Friday night and dedicated their Saturday to their final competition. Their performance on Saturday was full of enthusiasm and energy as they again won the crowd over! We ended the night with 1st place drum major, 2nd place band, percussion, and colorguard in Open Class and 2nd runner up to the Grand Champion award for the contest. There was steep competition at this competition and the judging panel included field judges. We have been working diligently to continue to improve and I am proud to report that our students made major improvements with their visual score this past weekend. We decided to focus more on our visual execution after receiving the comments from the Heard County competition and our students demonstrated remarkable growth in this caption! We will perform this show again this Friday night for Senior Night as we celebrate a terrific season for our Seniors. – Chris Carr, Band Director

This Week’s Schedule

Tuesday – Chamber Music/Percussion Ensemble Concert and Chili Cook Off – 6:00 pm

Thursday – Rehearsal 3:45 – 5:00 pm

Friday – Football Game vs. Hiram (Senior Night) (Although there is not school for our students it is still a required game for our marching band students)

Chamber Music/Percussion Ensemble Concert and Chili Cook Off

Join us THIS Tuesday for a chamber music/percussion ensemble concert. Tuesday, October 30. We are in need of volunteers to cook chili. Please make your favorite chili in a crockpot and bring to share. We will have guest judges to select the best chili. Also, don’t forget to bring some drinks and desserts to share with everyone! The idea is to have dinner and an informal concert to showcase the work that our students have been doing during class. In addition to marching band, the students have prepared chamber music, percussion ensembles, chamber music, and jazz charts to share with you this evening. Dinner will start at 6:00PM accompanied by chamber music, and the percussion ensembles and jazz bands will begin at 7:00PM. We will be finished by 8:00PM.

We will need volunteers to help set up (5:00PM – 6:00PM), to bring chili (please bring your chili by 5:30PM in a crock pot with a ladle and any fixings that are appropriate for your chili), and to clean up (8:00PM – 8:30PM).

Chili Cook Off Sign Up

Tickets for the dinner are $5.00/each, but students who are participating in the music will eat for free. We do ask that students bring the following donations to help us keep the cost of the event down.

Woodwinds bring 2 – 2 liter drinks (or a gallon of tea or lemonade) and cups

Brass bring bowls, napkins, dessert plates, and plastic spoons and forks

Percussion bring desserts
