Homecoming A HUGE Success

On Friday our Trojans celebrated Homecoming and went head to head with Hillgrove HS, which ended with another Trojan win! Congratulations to Coach Joey King, his staff, and our Trojan Football Team for their well earned 56 – 28 victory!

Thank you, Cheryl Moore, Zach Nelson, and Cali Jones for sharing these wonderful photos!

Friday was a long, but GREAT day! We started the day around 7:45am with an impromptu pep rally playing for our high schoolers as they arrived and our administration passed out Trojan magnets. We began setting up for the school wide pep rally around 9:00am and followed it with a parade right after lunch. The parade featured all of our band students! It was so great to see the 5-12th graders performing as 1 unit in the parade! That performance was followed by 2 performances at local assisted living homes along with our cheerleaders. We had our amp performance, pre-game, halftime homecoming ceremony, and finally a post game performance. Our Trojan Band still had energy to entertain the crowd even after all of that! Their dedication and hard work is inspiring! They continue to pour their heart into their efforts and I love seeing the pride that are beginning to exude. Way to go Trojans!!

We are so fortunate because of supportive parents, administration, and colleagues. Tonight we were joined by many alumni who performed pregame, in the stands, and Battle Hymn. It was great to catch up with them a bit and play some of our favorite stands tunes together. Then, after the game the cheerleaders sat on the sideline to watch our performance and the football team helped us perform Battle Hymn by pulling the flag! Camaraderie amongst generations of Trojans as well as the team work between our teams makes Carrollton the best place to be!

To top it off, Hillgrove walked over to the home side to watch the show and cheered on our band generously. Every time Hillgrove cheered, our band stood a little taller and performed with a little more energy. Thank you to Hillgrove High School Bands for allowing us to perform for you. We hate that we couldn’t see your show, but we look forward to seeing it in the future. You are a class act! Your support made Friday’s performance for us extra special, thank you!

All In One Sale • Due back Oct 6

Students received All in One Sale materials during class on Monday, September 19. The sale runs through October 6. This is one of our largest fundraisers of the year and is critical to keeping our band fees lower. The proceeds of this sale support our Trojan Band Booster Club in providing meals for our students for away games, maintaining the van, tractor, trailers, and golf cart. Additionally, the booster club buys materials and builds props needed for the show. In the past during great fundraising years the booster club has purchased new instruments for our students including the current drums that we use, and the most recently purchased mellophones. This is a critical fundraiser to allow our booster club to continue providing the best for our Trojan Band students. Thank you so much for your efforts in helping this fundraiser be successful! Fundraising materials are due on Thursday, October 6 so that we can order the items in time. Items will be available for pick up November 18 and 19 in the Tabernacle parking lot.

Trojan Band Staff Spotlight

LOC_2clr-b

Our Legacy of Champions Marching band Competition is right around the corner… October 8th, 2022, and we are making final preparations to host our visiting bands and their supporters. Part of these last minute preparations are to get everyone trained and ready to assist our guests the day of the competition. If you have already signed up for a volunteer position for the Legacy of Champions, we ask that you to join us 9/27/22 at 7:00pm in the band room for our booster club meeting and official volunteer training for the LoC. We want to take some one-on-one time with each volunteer group to make sure you understand where to report, your duties, and the expectations for the day. This will be a great time to ask questions and make sure you are properly prepared to provide a gold standard experience to each and everyone of our guests who join us for our competition.

Volunteer Opportunities

If you have not sign-up yet or are not sure for the Legacy of Champions is… The Legacy of Champions (LoC) is a marching band competition that the Carrollton Trojan Band Boosters host here on the Carrollton City Schools campus. It is becoming one of our top fundraisers.  All band students are required to work the entire day and all band parents/guardians are expected to work at least two volunteer shifts, but highly encouraged to commit to working the whole day.

The success of our event takes the support and efforts of ALL of our parents/boosters. So please take a moment and visit our volunteer page: LoC Volunteer Page and review all of the various sign-ups available for the event. There is a large variety of volunteer positions available, from staffing gates or ticket booths, to being a parking attendant. Or how about working concessions, working a fryer, grilling, or just serving as a general volunteer. There is something for everyone! The most important part is to just be involved, so please take time to sign-up today!

So if you haven’t signed up yet to help with this event, please do so now. We need everyone to participate! Alumni are welcome to volunteer too!

As always, if you have any questions, please make sure to contact the Band Boosters at: chstrojanbands@gmail.com.

Help Us Honor Our Veterans

We would like to honor family members and friends of the Carrollton Trojan Band with the creation of a slide show to be presented at our Veteran’s Day Concert on November 14, 2022. The concert is FREE and open to the public. We would be honored by your presence if you are able to attend. Please help us to spread the word!

Amazon • 2 Ways to Help • Snacks Needed

THANK YOU so much to our parents and friends who have ordered items from our Amazon Wishlist! The snacks for the away games, Gadsden and South Paulding were all provided from generous donations from our Amazon Wishlist. If you are able and willing to assist by purchasing items from the wishlist it helps both monetarily and assist us with our time since it removes the need for someone to go out and purchase the items. If you see items on our list that you can find less expensive elsewhere and would rather shop for them, we have a booster storage room where we can store donated snacks. Your generosity makes a difference and we are very appreciative. THANK YOU!!!!

District Honor Band

GMEA (Georgia Music Educators Association) sponsors a District and All-State band each year. The audition requirements were posted on Friday. This is an extremely important opportunity, especially for students desiring to audition for a scholarship. Taking advantage of audition opportunities can help them learn to handle nerves and ultimately prepare a stronger college audition than if they wait until their senior year. It costs $25 to sign-up to audition for All-State and $5 to sign-up to audition for District Honor Band.

District Honor Band/1st Round of All-State Auditions are on December 10, 2022 at East Paulding High School. Download the audition material below:

*The score sheets include Middle School and High School sheets. Be sure to look at the correct grade level and instrument because they are all different.

The first audition in December serves as a qualifying round for the second round of All-State auditions in addition to placement auditions for the district honor band. District Honor Band is hosted by Ringgold High School in Ringgold, GA from February 9 through February 11. Because we have such a large number of students make district each year we get a bus for the weekend and divide the cost of hotels amongst the students participating.

The score sheet lists the score needed to qualify for the second round for each instrument. The final audition is hosted by Union Grove High School in McDonough, GA on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Students who earn a spot in the All-State Band travel with their families to participate in Athens, GA at the Classic Center from March 2 through March 4. Both events are considered school sponsored activities and are excused absences from school.

Health Class • Last Week!

9th Grade students enrolled in marching band or new band members (guard included) who haven’t taken Health and PE yet should complete this online health class to receive PE and Health Credit for participation in marching band. All of the information is below and can be accessed using the “Health in Band” link at the top of this page. All of the health coursework is due by October 1. This is your final week to get this work finished. Parents, please double check with your child that they are working diligently to complete this course. Students have had since the start of summer to complete their coursework. Some have chosen to wait until the last minute. Grades have been added to Infinite Campus. These grades are not final as long as your child continues to complete their work. Please remind them to get it done ASAP.
