It’s HOT and predicted to be hotter

This week we continue our guard rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursdays and percussion rehearsals on Thursday throughout the month of June. But, as the headline reads – it is already very hot outside and it is predicted to be even warmer when we get started in July. Part of why it feels even hotter to us now is that we enjoy air conditioning. Please begin getting outside and drinking plenty of water daily. Drink an extra cup of water at every meal to help ensure you are getting plenty. If you are staying inside most of the day then you body most likely is not craving the water that it needs. Begin hydrating now and the practice on July 2 will not feel as warm to you than if you do not begin hydrating. If you drink enough water, you may begin to feel cold in most air conditioned spaces?

Reminder that Ms. Dothard will be available to accept fees and paperwork on Tuesdays and Thursdays this month as well.

Colorguard Family Cookout

The annual colorguard family cookout will take place on Monday, June 27 at 6:00pm in the Hall of Fame Room (2nd Floor of the Football Field House). More details will be shared by Coach Brown during the week. A few parents have been working to organize the event for our colorguard families this summer. For more information you can email Coach Brown at trojan.cg@carrolltoncityschools.net and he can put in you in touch with one of our parents who is organizing it. Thank you to Ms. Jovita Moore, Ms. Dee Dee Williams, Ms. Deyonca Dozier for all of your work putting this together for our team!

Percussion Section Family Dinner

Mr. Nelson is organizing a dinner for the percussion section on June 30, 2022. He is in need of some volunteers to help him plan this. Please email him at zachary.nelson@carrolltoncityschools.net to volunteer. On the 30th the entire section works together for a longer practice putting together what they have worked on in sections all summer. The dinner is planned to serve as a way for the members and parents to fellowship in preparation of the upcoming season. For more information please email zachary.nelson@carrolltoncityschools.net.

4th of July Parade

Our rehearsal is quickly approaching. We are meeting on July 2 from 9:00AM – 12:00PM on our campus. Marching instruments that were sent off for summer cleaning/maintenance will be back by then, but we have not received them yet. Mr. Carr will post in the Google Classroom when they arrive, so that you can schedule a time to pick one up.

IMPORTANT INFO

Health Class

9th Grade students enrolled in marching band or new band members (guard included) who haven’t taken Health and PE yet should complete this online health class. All of the information is below and can be accessed using the “Health in Band” link at the top of this page. Students have access to the info now and should have already started working on it. All of the health coursework is due by October, but I highly recommend you completing it before band camp.
