Pre-Festival – Tuesday, February 25

On February 25 our bands will perform a Pre-Festival Concert at the Mabry Arts Center on campus. This is a very important concert as we will have adjudicators make comments on our performance to help us to better prepare for our Large Group Performance Evaluations in March. Students should wear their concert attire and report to the Drama Room one performance before their performance. CB reports at 6:30, SB by 7:00 and WE by 7:30. Here is the performance itinerary for the evening:

  • 6:00 PM CJHS 7th Grade
  • 6:30 PM CJHS 8th Grade
  • 7:00 PM CHS Concert Band
  • 7:30 PM CHS Symphonic Band
  • 7:45 PM CHS Wind Ensemble

Admission is free! Our students have been preparing diligently all semester and need your support! Please make plans on attending your child’s performance. I am excited about their progress and look forward to sharing it with you on Tuesday evening!

Help A Fellow Trojan Band Family

One of our Band Families suffered a house fire on February 16, 2020. Wetro West Realty has sent up a fund that you can donate to help this family if you are able. More information can be found here to make a gift. Thank you for making our community an amazing place to raise children through your generosity.

Trojan Band Alumni – Katahj Copley

Former Trojan Band member, Katahj Copley who currently attends the University of West Georgia is studying music composition. The university’s Wind Ensemble was invited to perform at the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Southern Regional Conference at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana this past weekend and premiered Katahj’s recent composition, Nova. Because his piece was performed at the conference he was invited to participate in the composer’s forum hosted at the conference on Saturday morning! This is a remarkable milestone for our alumnus! Congratulations, Katahj! We are very proud of your continued success!!

You can check out his piece as well as the full UWG performance on banddirector.com. Their performance was stunning! Many former Trojans are featured during the concert. Go Trojans!!!

BRAVO to all of the UWG faculty with special shout outs to Dr. Byrd, Dr. Self, and Katahj Copley!

Trip Meeting – THIS THURSDAY – February 27

If your student would like to go on the upcoming band trip to Philadelphia and Washington DC during the Spring of 2021, we will have an information meeting on February 27 in the Band Room at 7:00 PM.

Hello all you amazing band students and parents! Over the past week, we have challenged our band leadership to submit a video promoting the upcoming Band BBQ on May 7. To say that we had an awesome turnout is an understatement! The students are simply stunning in their creativity and ability. Of course, you parents already knew this.

We wanted to get the students involved because this is their fundraiser for their band and we believed it was important for them to also use that creativity to promote the BBQ on social media.  But we need your help!  Below are the top 3 videos and we need you to vote on which one will reign supreme and have their video blasted all over Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Tiktok, Twitter…

Watch the Videos below and use the poll to vote. We are going to have voting go on from now until February 29.  Share this post with all of your family and friends and thank for your support!!!!!

SAVE THE DATE – Band Banquet – April 27

It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is quickly approaching and that means that our annual band banquet is quickly approaching. This year’s banquet will be Monday, April 27, 2020, at 6 PM in the CHS Cafeteria. Like last year, we will have Longhorn Steakhouse catering the meal and it will cost $14 per person. We will be accepting cash on designated days in the band room (dates to be announced) and we will also be using RevTrack to accept payments for your meals. Once we have finalized all of these details we will send out an updated email and the website will also be updated with this information.

SAVE THE DATE – Band BBQ – May 7

The annual Band BBQ is quickly approaching. The Band BBQ is one of two major fundraisers that help the Boosters to continue to do all of the great things to support our students and our band program. We will have a kick-off meeting to provide all of the necessary information, so please keep an eye on the website and we will provide you with a date of that meeting.
