Kiwanis Showcase

Congratulations to Mattie Steed, Rommel Ramos, Kayla McGuinn, and Victoria Ocampo for wonderful performances in the Kiwanis Showcase this evening!  They all represented our school very well! Go Trojans!

Leadership and LGPE Clinics

This week we will start our series of leadership clinics. These clinics are essential if your student is considering being a part of our band’s student leadership team for next year. During these clinics, students will learn the qualities that make a great leader. These clinics are hosted after school so please pay attention to the schedule listed below.

The University of West Georgia has started an LGPE Clinic and we are excited that our Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble have been invited to participate this Wednesday, February 12. The clinic will take place at Carroll County Schools Performing Arts Center. The students will do a run-through of their music, receive commentary from UWG Faculty, and rehearse with Dr. Byrd for the remainder of the clinic. Each clinic is roughly an hour and a half. District Honor Band is next week (February 13-15).  Students were given the handout above last week, but just in case you haven’t seen it yet, I wanted to be sure that you got all of the information.

We will take a bus to the event on Thursday afternoon and chaperone the students through Saturday’s morning rehearsal.  We ask that parents please arrive in time to meet up with their child at the conclusion of the morning rehearsal on Saturday so that they can enjoy lunch together before attending the concert.  All of the information can be found in the handout.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Carr at christopher.carr@carrolltoncityschools.net.

Trip Meeting • 2/27/2020

We will have a meeting concerning next year’s band trip on February 27, 2020 at 6:00PM.  We will discuss deposits, cost, and payments as well as a fundraiser that has been very successful for our students in the past.

SAVE THE DATE – Band Banquet – April 27

It is hard to believe that the end of the school year is quickly approaching and that means that our annual band banquet is quickly approaching. This year’s banquet will be Monday, April 27, 2020, at 6 PM in the CHS Cafeteria. Like last year, we will have Longhorn Steakhouse catering it. The cost for the meal this year will be $14 per person. We will be accepting cash on designated days in the band room (dates to be announced) and we will also be using RevTrack to accept payments for your meals. Once we have finalized all of these details we will send out an updated email and the website will also be updated with this information.
