And the Band Played On!

nullDespite the cold weather and breezy conditions, our band cheered the Trojans on a victory that capped off a 10-0 undefeated season. Also congratulations to the Trojan Cheerleaders who won Region Championship over the weekend.

Flag NYC17This week we honor our veterans along with our ROTC for an assembly during the day and a special concert in their honor on Monday evening.  We are so thankful for the many men and women who have dedicated their lives to the service of our country.  We hope that you join us for the concert so that we may thank our veterans properly.

Winter Guard auditions take place this week as we get ready for the winter season! We will meet on Thursday to run the show to make sure it is still ready for Friday night.

Veterans Day Assembly

Our ROTC hosts a Veterans Day assembly every year and our Wind Ensemble performs for the High School assemblies.  Wind Ensemble students (winds and percussion) will report to the band room for 1st block.  They will perform through most of 2nd block, but will be released at 11:00AM to return to 2nd block.  They will attend 3rd block as normal and then report back to band during 4th block (1:45PM) to get ready for the final performance.  Students have elected to wear all black for these performances to save their concert attire for the evening’s concert.

Veterans Day Concert

This Monday night is our annual Veterans Day concert where we honor those who are currently serving or have served in our country’s armed forces. We wrap the concert that night by playing our competition show in the MAC. This is a great event to be a part of so invite family and friends to a night of patriotism and great music.

Also, the Band Shoppe will be set up that night, so you can place your order just in time for the holidays. We will also be selling the new “I’m With the Band” t-shirts.

Students are required to either help set-up or help clean up for the event and should wear their concert attire for the concert. All students will remain for the entirety of the concert, which will last around an hour and a half. We will discuss the performances in class on Tuesday, since listening to and analyzing music is part of our music standards.

Report times:

  • Concert Band onstage by 6:30PM
  • Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble in the audience by 6:45PM

Yankee Candle Fundraiser Kicked Off

Last week we kicked off our Yankee Candle fundraiser. Your student should have brought home a packet on Thursday night. We are selling both in person and online. For the in person sales, your student brought home a catalog and an order form. This form and the money collected need to be turned in on November 19, 2019. It is imperative that you turn in on this date, so you can receive items by Christmas. For online sales, we ask that you post the following link www.yankeecandlefundraising.com to your social media pages and tell people to use Group Number 999968266 when placing your order. The items purchased online are shipped directly to the customer, so you will not need to deliver any items.

Check-Out Policy – Please Read

Since the playoffs have started, this means that we may need to travel to an away game that is a considerable amount of time away. This is a good time to remind everyone of the band’s check-out policy.

Our band policy states if you wish for your child to ride home with you (or a guardian of your choosing), from any event, please complete and submit the check-out form to the Band Secretary no later than the day before the event by 3 pm. No Exceptions can be given to this policy. This is for the safety of all of our students.

Your child will only be released to you(or the guardian of your choosing) after the event is over and WE physically see you with your child and say goodbye. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated. You can download the forms

Holiday Shopping!!

Has your student been asking for some band swag for the holidays? Look at the Band Shoppe by clicking this link and get your items earlier and beat the holiday rush. There is even a number of cold-weather gear that you can order to be ready to support the Trojans as they get ready to enter the playoffs.

Shop at Amazon? You Can Help the Boosters

Do you shop on Amazon often? Did you know that you can help the Band Boosters when you shop on Amazon? Go to smile.amazon.com and then select Carrollton Band Booster Club, Inc. for the charitable organization you want to support.

HEALTH CLASS

Students participating in the health class should be completed with the eADAP course from the GA Department of Drivers Services. Please double-check with your child to verify that they have completed that course and submitted a certificate to me either in person or a PDF via email. This is the most important aspect of the class as it qualifies our students to apply for their driver’s license. Once they have finished the eADAP course online, then they complete the 9 Unit exams via Google Classroom and they are done. Due dates are listed in Classroom to allow students to complete the class before their semester becomes too hectic. I will be lenient with the due dates so long as all coursework is completed and turned in by the Thanksgiving Break. Thank you for your assistance in keeping your child on track.

HAVE YOU SYNCED YOUR CALENDAR?

The Charms Calendar is syncing again. Syncing your calendar with the band calendar is a great way to stay informed of the schedule. You can access more information through the links above (If you hover over Calendar, Sync Calendar becomes an option), or just click here.
