Band Prom

Band prom was a lot of fun!  Thank you to all of the parents who volunteered by decorating, bringing food, drinks, desserts, and/or chaperoning the event.  I think that the students had a great time hanging out with one another and dancing the night away in the band room.  Congratulations to the trumpet section on their fantastic display on their table earning them some Chick-fil-a biscuits!  There were many wonderful tables this year deserving of at least honorable mentions – the clarinets had a working windmill and the flutes and saxophones also had very nice tables!

The decorations this year were awesome!  Great work to all involved!

Have you turned in your forms or commitment fee for next year’s marching band yet?

Georgia Ambassadors of Music (GAM)

The Georgia Ambassadors of Music sent out letters inviting some of our students to participate as Georgia Ambassadors of Music.  Students were chosen based on their achievement in academics and music, as well as by recommendation by Mr. Carr based on their maturity and leadership potential.  If your child received a letter, I just wanted to remind you that the informational meeting mentioned in the letter is Monday evening at 7:00PM in our band room.  The band director from Milton HS, Chris Shumick, is the official representative of GAM and will be running the meeting and answering any questions that you may have about this opportunity.

Leadership Results

Our band program is blessed with many capable students who exhibit exceptional leadership qualities.  This is a great thing, yet makes the leadership selection process a daunting one.  Parents, thank you for being supportive of your child and assisting with coping if results do not go their way.  As difficult as it can be to fall short of a goal, it is through these challenges that growth and maturity continue.  The true reward is the improvement through the process.  Please encourage your child to continue to be a shining example of the values that you have instilled in them and those that are representative of the Trojan Band program.  Also, encourage them to continue to show their leadership qualities by participating fully and being proactive by volunteering to help when needed.
