Graduation Time Change / Senior Thought

Good evening! Due to anticipated inclement weather, the graduation ceremony will begin 30 minutes earlier than scheduled.  The gates for graduation will open at 6:00PM and the ceremony will begin at 7:30PM.

Our CHS band itinerary will not change, we will just start the ceremony 30 minutes earlier.  5:30 for dinner, 6:15 in concert attire, 7:00 on the field for sound check.  Ceremony begins at 7:30.  Students will be dismissed once all band equipment has been returned to the band room.

Seniors,

Your adult life is beginning just as it will most likely continue, at least if it follows the path that most of us experience.  One absolute about life is that it will continue to present unexpected obstacles.  Although you do may not have control over the certain circumstances, you always have control your reaction to them.  Be steadfast in your pursuit to anticipate obstacles, but have the patience to be flexible so that you ENJOY every minute.

Tonight is your night! I am sorry that we are starting a little sooner.  If you have family that were going to barely make it by 8:00PM, then remember that although they may not experience the start of the ceremony, they will only the miss the speakers at the beginning 🙂  They will arrive just in time to celebrate your accomplishment and hear your name as you walk across that stage!  Please know that the decision to start the ceremony early was made in the best interest of hosting the most dignified ceremony for you and your classmates.  It was a decision that was made with careful consideration and without haste.  Tonight will continue to be the PERFECT ceremony for you and your classmates because it is in celebration of you.

This is a very special senior class to me personally because you were freshmen when I started my tenure at CHS.  I will never forget our first year together and will always cherish our past three.  Our band program has grown so much because of your dedication and leadership.  Use this experience as a memory to help you through those times that it is difficult to see the end result.  I am sure that most of you thought that this day would never come, well…  YOUR TIME IS NOW! And, I bet most would now say that it arrive faster than you thought it would.  Well, as they say time flies when you’re having fun! I sure had fun these last few years and I hope that you did too!

Let me leave your with the words of Mother Theresa as you embark on the rest of your adult life:

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.  Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.  Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.  Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.  Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.  Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.  Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten.  Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.  Give your best anyway.

Never forget: you are the best version of yourself! and your BEST is always good enough. Love you guys, Happy Graduation Day!
