Pre-Festival This Week!

I hope that this message finds everyone well! The countdown to the New York Trip (NYC17) has begun! Only 46 days!!!!! Thank you to Meredith Harris, Tracy Wiggins, and Lisa Ashley to putting in overtime to assist us with this process. What a relief to hear from our terrific volunteers that all payments were accounted for ONTIME! Another reason why you are all ROCKSTARS!

Here are some quick reminders of what is happening this week:

Monday – Mandatory NYC17 Chaperone Meeting – 6:00PM in the Band Room
- This will be a very thorough meeting and all chaperones will receive Darkness to Light training by Jill Hesterlee (Thank you Jill!). All in attendance through the end of the training will receive certification for the training! If for some reason you have an emergency and are not able to attend, it will be required of you to watch a video of the presentation and sign-off that you understand your lawful obligations by serving as an official volunteer. Unfortunately, certification is not available to those who must watch the video.
Tuesday – Pre-LGPE Concert in the Mabry Arts Center – 7:00PM
- Students help set-up after school or clean up after the concert
- All students need to be in their concert attire and in the audience by 6:55PM
- 7th Grade 7:00PM, 8th Grade 7:25PM, Concert Band 7:50PM, Symphonic Band 8:15PM, Wind Ensemble 8:45PM – The times are approximate, but the educational experience is in the performing and listening to the other students. Students should remain for the entirety of the concert.
Thursday – Saturday • All-State in Athens, GA
- Another congratulations to Lainey Driver, Ryan Schumann, and Taylor Berry for being selected to participate in the GMEA All-State Band!
Friday – Winter Guard at Kennesaw Mountain HS – 8:15PM Performance
Saturday – Winter Guard at McEachern HS WGI Regional – Prelims • 1:34PM
Sunday – Winter Guard at McEachern HS WGI Regional – Finals • TBA
