Important: Itinerary for Friday’s Playoff Game

ghsa-logoWelcome to the playoffs and a trip across across our great state! This Friday, in the opening round of the state playoffs, we will be heading to Toccoa, GA to take on the Stephens County Indians. Due to the required departure time and length of travel, we have secured charter buses to make the journey to Toccoa.  The playoffs are a special time and we are excited to join the Trojan Nation in supporting our football team as they begin their quest to return to the dome!

Here is the complete itinerary for this Friday, November 13, 2015

Carrollton Trojans vs Stephens County Indians @ Stephens County High School • 323 Indian Trail, Toccoa, GA 30577
  • 1:00PM Students released after 4th block to report to band room
  • 1:30PM Load charter buses and depart
  • 3:30PM Early dinner at the Varsity (Gwinnett)
  • 6:00PM Arrive at Stephens County HS
  • 7:30PM Kick-Off
  • 1:00am* Estimated arrival back at CHS
    *(approx. times; watch Facebook, Twitter, and/or text messages for updates)

Please note: Temperatures are predicted to fall into the mid 30’s during the evening hours/game, so please make sure to dress in layers under your uniforms to ensure you stay as warm as possible!

Reminders as we approach Thanksgiving Break

We only have 2 weeks of school remaining before we get a week off from school for Thanksgiving break.  Below are some reminders of the highlights that you have to look forward to as we approach the break.  I am so proud of the spirit and professionalism that our students displayed despite the rainy game on Friday.  Let’s pray for better weather as we travel to face Stephen’s County on Friday.

Monday, November 9 

  • Winter Guard Auditions from 3:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Jazz Band rehearsal from 3:00pm – 4:00pm

Tuesday, November 10

  • Winter Guard Auditions from 3:00p – 7:00pm
  • Veteran’s Day Concert at 7:00pm in the Mabry Arts Center
    • Admission is free.  The concert bands will be performing an assortment of American music as well as performing their marching show as a finale.  Students should report to the MAC at 5:45pm in all black attire.  We will rehearse briefly before opening the house for the audience at 6:30pm.  The concert begins at 7:00pm.

Thursday, November 12

  • Marching Band rehearsal from 3:15pm – 3:45pm
  • Winter Guard Auditions 3:45pm – 7:00pm

Friday, November 13

  • Playoff Game vs Stephens County – Itinerary TBD.  Tentative departure time 3:00PM.

Monday, November 16

  • Band Auditions after school
    • Students can sign-up for audition times on Monday, November 9.

Tuesday, November 17

  • Winter Guard Practice 3:00pm – 7:00pm

Thursday, November 19

  • Marching Band Practice 3:15pm-4:00pm (pending playoff game)
  • Winter Guard Practice 3:45pm – 7:00pm

Friday, November 20

  • All In One Pick-Up @ Tabernacle Baptist Church 9:00am – 6:00pm
  • Playoff Game #2 (TBD by playoff game 1)

Saturday, November 21

  • All In One Pick-Up @ Tabernacle Baptist Church 9:00am – 12:00pm (All items not picked up will be donated to local charities.)

Last Regular Season Game This Week

2015 Winding downWith the last regular season game taking place this Friday, we must face the reality that our marching season is winding down. But we are not done just quite yet! So with that in mind, here is our itinerary for this week.

Please note the special activity on Thursday morning were we will need some volunteer help.

  • Tuesday – Moe’s Spirit Night – 5:00pm – 8:00pm @ Moe’s of Carrollton
  • Tuesday – Winter Guard Meeting – 7:00pm – 8:00pm @ CHS Band Room
  • Thursday – Special encore performance of full show for CES– 9:30am
    • We need about 4-6 parents willing and able to come help with props and special effects. If you can help, please arrive at the Band Room at 9am. Should be done by 10am.
  • Thursday – Full Band Practice – 3:15pm – 5:00pm
  • Thursday – Legacy of Champions Competition Wrap-up meeting  – 6:00pm – 8:00pm in the band room – This meeting will be our final one for this year and will give us a chance to review the successes and opportunities from our competition we hosted back on the 10th of October. This meeting is open to all interested band boosters. If you have personal observations you would like to share, but will not be able to attend, you can email those to us, by Wednesday of this week please, at: chstrojanbands@gmail.com.
  • Friday – Football game at Woodward Academy
    • Friday’s Full Itinerary

After Friday night we will find out where we will be playing our first round play-off game, so watch for those updates over the weekend or early next week.
