Good evening!

I hope that everyone is finding the website easy to navigate and informative.  Thank you so much to Michael Post for continuing to assist with the dissemination of information and his continued support in making technology work for us seamlessly.  I wanted to take a minute to highlight some of the upcoming events and to let you know that our competition dates have been finalized.  We will only compete on October 11 and October 25, so the remaining dates that you were asked to reserve have been opened up.  The calendar has been updated to reflect these changes.  I appreciate your partnership to provide the best possible band experience for our students at Carrollton High School.

Saturday Rehearsal – “Trojan March-a-thon” – Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 1:00PM – 9:00PM.  

The students will have a dinner break from 4:30PM – 6:00PM during which time they are permitted to eat a dinner that has been packed or to leave campus for dinner and return back for our evening block.  Parents are welcome to come watch our rehearsal, but particularly the last 30 minutes when we are finishing up rehearsal and preparing for a full run just for you!

Follow the web address/link above for more information.  The students, staff, and I would love to see us fill up Central of Carroll’s stands in support of our band, full of enthusiastic parents who are willing to let your children know how proud you are of them.  Hearing a loud cheering section adds to the adrenaline of the performance making it a more memorable experience for our kids!

Fall Holiday – October 2 & 3 (Thursday & Friday)

The students are not in school on October 2 and 3 due to a fall holiday.  Please note that we will still have rehearsal on Thursday, October 2 as regularly scheduled from 6:00PM – 9:00PM.  This is the week before our first competition and will be a critical rehearsal in our competitive preparation.  We do not have a game or any other band activities on Friday or the remainder of that weekend.

Marching Contest – Yellow Jacket Classic at Rockmart High School – Saturday, October 11, 2014

Our first competition will take place at Rockmart on October 11.  Please keep this date completely clear.  I know that many of our juniors and seniors may have already scheduled their SAT for this date.  If this affects you, please let me know and we will do what we can to work it out for you.  We want our students to score well on their SAT and continue to be a strong ambassador of Carrollton during their college careers.  An itinerary will be posted once a performance schedule is communicated by the competition hosts.

Community Pep Rally at the AMP in the Carrollton Square – Sunday, October 19, 2014 • 4:00PM

Our community is hosting a pep-rally at the AMP on October 19 to begin our Homecoming festivities for Homecoming on October 24 at 4:00PM.  I think that this can be a great event for our community and a chance to show our community the hard work that our students have been doing since the summer.  Please let Mr. Carr know immediately if you are unable to attend this event.

Marching Contest – McEachern Marching Invitational at McEachern High School – Saturday, October 25, 2014

Our final competition will take place at McEachern on October 25.  Please keep this date completely clear.  This is a prelims/finals formatted marching show, which could allow us to perform our show twice for the judges this day.  I know that many of our juniors and seniors may have already scheduled their ACT for this date.  If this affects you, please let me know and we will do what we can to work it out for you.  We want our students to score well on their ACT and continue to be strong ambassadors of Carrollton during their college careers.    An itinerary will be posted once a performance schedule is communicated by the competition hosts.
