Queen Kylie Alexander

Last week was a wonderful week celebrating Homecoming. Students dressed up all week to show their school spirit, and we had an action-packed day on Friday for the homecoming festivities. Friday began early with a performance at 7:30AM for the magnet distribution in front of the high school. We joined both our system administrative team and our high school administrative team to welcome people to school with spirit! A highlight of the morning was seeing Coach Sanders perform the cheer routine to the Fight Song.

The day continued with a pep rally in the morning. We had an opportunity to watch the Cheerleaders and Dance Teams perform their competition shows before performing half of ours for the student body. Teachers also raced while wearing inflatable costumes, which was hilarious to watch. Landon Walker was named Homecoming King during the pep rally.

After lunch, we split the band into 2 so that we could have 2 bands in the parade. We always enjoy marching down Ben Scott Boulevard because students from each of the other 3 schools line the streets and cheer loudly for the parade participants. We had fun playing our favorite cheers for our fellow Trojans. Afterwards, the first group loaded a bus along with our cheerleaders and visited the Stewart House and The Oaks to perform for the assisted living home residents. This is a favorite annual tradition for our seniors and leadership students.

Our day ended with the football game. We performed in the amp before the sweetheart pregame ceremony, and it was so much fun because Mr. Blakemore prepared a light show with our shakos, and the sweetheart and court members in the band performed all evening in their beautiful dresses! After the amp, we watched and cheered for the sweethearts before performing the National Anthem, the CHS Scramble, and Space and Fight Song. During halftime, we performed the ceremony and were pleasantly surprised to learn that our drum major, Kylie Alexander, was named HOMECOMING QUEEN! The students celebrated during a quick 3rd quarter break because of a running clock. Our football team secured another dominant win, and then we had the opportunity to perform the full show after the game. Our students did an outstanding job, and it is always so much fun watching the band homecoming participants perform in their beautiful dresses alongside their peers in the marching band uniforms. And this year, we got to ask, “Queen Alexander, is your band ready?!” The audience response said it all and provided extra inspiration for our band students to perform their hearts out. Even after a super long day, the band looked and sounded OUTSTANDING! It was the last full runthrough of Guiding Light, and it was a special one. At the conclusion of our performance, we ended with Battle Hymn. Keeping with our homecoming tradition, we were joined by our football team to pull the flag.

Help Us Find Community Sponsors

Our band families are some of our best ambassadors in the community! If you know a business, organization, or individual who may be interested in supporting the Carrollton Trojan Band, please consider sharing our Band Sponsorship Flyer. Students will receive 10% of the sponsorship to assist with their band fees. We have physical copies in the band room if you’d like a few to share with potential partners.
