We had a very eventful past weekend. 12 of our students participated in UGA’s JanFest, where they spent Thursday night attending masterclasses and concerts, then rehearsed all day on Friday before watching UGA’s Wind Ensemble in concert, and then concluded with a day of concerts on Saturday! They were outstanding representatives of our band program the entire weekend! McKenzie Swain performed in the Honor Concert Winds led by Dr. Dominic Talanca from UNC Wilmington. Haley Rowell and Tyler Clotfelter performed in the Honor Wind Symphony led by Dr. Alfred Watkins, a retired band director from Lassiter HS. Ann Haley and Xander Adams performed in the Honor Wind Ensemble led by Dr. Rodney Dorsey from Florida State University. Yael Ramirez and Emmett Bush performed in the band conducted by Monica Fogg, Fine Arts Coordinator of DeKalb County Schools. Reese Roenigk, Viviana Deatherage, and Cadence Carr performed in the band led by Chris Shumick, former GMEA President and director of bands at Milton HS. And Stevie Releford performed in the band led by Amanda Irby, who is the director of bands at Burney Harris Lyons Middle School. The concerts were OUTSTANDING!

And, our Winter Guard had their debut performance of their 2026 production, Echos of Us, at Kennesaw Mountain HS. They finished in 3rd place in Scholastic A competition. Their next performance is at 4:32PM on Saturday, January 24, at Cass HS. We are excited to see their show continue to grow throughout the season. Go Trojans!

MLK Parade • January 19

Our students are out of school tomorrow in celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. We will help our community celebrate by marching in the parade that afternoon. Below is the itinerary. We will be in our uniforms, including our shako. Be sure to wear layers under your uniform tomorrow. Thankfully, the parade is later in the day than it has been in the past, so it will be a bit warmer at the start of the parade.

Winter Guard at Cass HS

This weekend, our Winter Guard has their second performance of the season at Cass HS on Saturday at 4:32PM. You can buy tickets here. Tickets are $15 each. 5 & Under are free.
