Our Carrollton Trojan Band had 2 outstanding weeks of band camp to prepare for the 2024 season. The students’ talents continue to impress, the staff continues to raise the bar, and our parents continue to provide critical support. Sparks of Imagination debuted on Friday night at our annual Trojan Night celebration to a large audience of friends, family, community, and alumni! It was the perfect way to celebrate the start of another successful season! Be sure to catch your Trojan Band at all home and away football games! Here is the video from Trojan Night celebrating the week.
Thank you so much to Laura Malmquist and our CCS Nutrition staff! Your assistance with meals was paramount in keeping our students nourished throughout the week. Thank you to the parents who assisted with meals, built props, prepared waters, nursed children when needed, made sure we were in uniforms, prepared spirit wear, handed out shorts and show shirts, and assisted with all logistics! It takes a village and Im grateful to be in a village with you!
SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR PRINCIPAL! Mr. Lyle visited our students before Trojan Night to share with them how proud he was of their hard work. He reminded them how important their efforts are to our community and told them how much he looks forward to Trojan Night each year. He said that it was the perfect way to get excited about the start of our upcoming fall season!

Thank you also to our incredible staff! We are so fortunate to have a staff with a multitude of talents. Mr. Nelson led much of the show design communications this year while coordinating music and drill and coordinating the percussion. Ms. Menendez has led the visual fundamentals for marching basics and incorporated a new dynamic stretching routine that will assist us in staying healthy and improve our visual execution. Mr. Trumble led our drill learning process as we put the music with the marching. Mr. Boyle led the front ensemble while also writing the electronic soundscape for the show and sound engineering of our performance. Ms. Padilla and Ms. Brady led all aspects of our colorguard from uniform design, equipment fundamentals, movement exercises, and choreography. Additionally we were joined by outstanding band camp staff who ran sectionals to assist with music memorization and leadership development: Blake Durden, drum majors • Rachel Breaux, flutes • Christopher Mothersole, clarinets • Katie Hoberg, alto saxophones • Zavier Breedlove, low reeds • Tyler Ragsdale, mellophones • Rachel Worley, trumpets • Max Libardi, trombones • Kelley Ozier, baritones • and Luke Bass, sousaphones. Thank you so much to all of your efforts to provide the jumpstarted needed for another successful year!

Leadership Travels to DCI Atlanta

Members of our Trojan Band student leadership traveled on Saturday, July 27 to Center Parc Stadium to watch the DCI Southeastern Championships. We had an opportunity to see performances by Atlanta CV, Genesis, Spirit of Atlanta, The Academy, Crossmen, Colts, Blue Stars, Mandarins, Carolina Crown, Santa Clara Vanguard, Phantom Regiment, Bluecoats, Boston Crusaders, Blue Devils, and the Spirit of Atlanta Alumni Corps. We witnessed marching band at the highest level and had the opportunity to discuss the shows. There were many amazing moments and we look forward to watching many of these shows again at the DCI Watch Party in the band room on Saturday, August 10. The watch party is free and all Carrollton Trojan Band members are invited to attend. If you haven’t experienced DCI (Drum Corps) before, look up the before mentioned corps to watch some of their past shows. What these organizations are able to accomplish is truly marvelous and will leave you inspired!
