It was a great first week of school! Thursday we had our candlelight ceremony, and on Friday we finished the week with our home opener vs. Langston Hughes. Before the game we hosted a reconnect reception for alumni and during halftime we had the privilege to honor Trojan Band Pioneers and their wives: Ernest and Dorris McClendon, Don and Rosetta Hall, and Hal and Elaine Lovvorn in celebration of 75 Years of Trojan Band Excellence. The celebration wouldn’t have been as special without the historical collection compiled by Mrs. Rita Gentry. We proudly recognized her contributions just before Battle Hymn. It was a sellout crowd and our students represented us very well all night! After the game a few of our parents and student leaders recognized that our custodians could use some help because the visitors stands were trashed. They did not hesitate to lend a hand to help out and the stands were clean very quickly.

Thank you to the many parent volunteers who made Thursday and Friday Successful! It takes a village and we are so thankful to have many parent volunteers who display humility to our students daily. Parents who make the sacrifices necessary to help us provide what the students need to be successful. Thank you for being great role models, rolling up your sleeves, and getting the job done. We are blessed to have the opportunity to work alongside you. It was a great week overall!

Parent Volunteers
Our booster club has began using Slack (a free messaging software) to help facilitate and organize direct messaging between people. It allows conversations to be organized by task/committee rather than person. This allows us to stay in the know better. Join Our Slack Channel by clicking Here.
If you are volunteering for a football game, you must be signed up to volunteer no later than Thursday evening before the game so that we can provide a list of volunteers to the gate workers. This allows us to assist our school in making our games more secure, which directly benefits our families safety. Thank you for assisting us with this very important procedure. You can easily fine the link to volunteer for each event either in the “Week At A Glance” at the top, or in the “Upcoming Events” section at the bottom of each post.
In order to maximize our student’s break time during 3rd Quarter Break, we have the students pre-order their items on Thursday’s before home games. We are in need of a few volunteers to assist with these orders • VOLUNTEER HERE
Anniversary Celebration Continues

Did you miss the celebration last week? We will continue performing The Opener, Let It Be Me, and Spirit of the Bull during our CHAMP performances before pregame at home games. You can also view the historic slideshow compiled by Rita Gentry using the QR code above or by visiting our alumni page under the “About” menu.
Stay tuned to our YouTube page as we have begun converting our Trojan Band media to prepare it for online premieres. We hope to be able to share the nostalgia and provide a wonderful resource for the families who poured so much time and effort into our program over the years.
