What began as a class assignment for our Wind Ensemble students last year blossomed into 5 friends practicing chamber music and performing for many audiences. The group has had many notable performances since last year’s inaugural Chamber Recital.
The 5/4 Ensemble, which consists of Daniel Kuntz on clarinet, Chase Hornsby on alto saxophone, Aquay Backus on alto saxophone, Katahj Copley on tenor saxophone, and Khalil Newell on tuba, has performed for the Faculty of CHS at a faculty meeting, the Georgia School Board Association, and the Rotary Club of Carrollton. The students decided to create this ensemble even though it is not a common instrumentation. Because of the unique grouping of instruments the students have created their own arrangements to perform.
The ensemble participated in the Kiwanis Club of Carrollton’s Art and Music Showcase on Sunday, February 14, 2016 performing Daniel Kuntz’s arrangement of An American in Paris by George Gershwin. They were named the 1st place winners and were presented the plaque pictured below and a $500 scholarship to be shared amongst the members.
Please help us congratulate the 5/4 Ensemble on their achievements! So proud!
