Dr. Ernest Calvin McClendon, who passed away on August 18, 2025, at 95, was a cherished educator and leader in the Carrollton community. As the director of the Carrollton Trojan Band, he fostered excellence, establishing traditions and opportunities for students. His legacy in education and music, supported by his wife Doris, continues to inspire future generations.
The first week of school was incredible, with positive feedback from fans and administration. Thank you so much to the volunteers who contributed to our success! We love working alongside our families to create a special season for our students. We are still selling chocolate, reaching out to sponsors, and accepting travelers for the trip to Universal Studios. Monday’s rehearsal will end early at 5:00PM so that our directors can make it to the GMEA meeting in Dallas on time. Tuesday and Thursday we will practice as normal. Friday, we are home again against Columbia HS. Week 2, here we come! Go Trojans!
School resumes on August 11, with advisement starting at 8:25 AM. The DCI Watch Party for Trojan Band members is tonight, featuring food and community. Important events for August include band practices and home games. Sponsorship opportunities are available to support the band, along with a chocolate fundraiser and Universal Studios trip.
Thank you for another great week last week! This week we meet again on Monday, Tuesday, from 6-9 and Thursday from 7-9 since we have open house on Thursday from 5-7. DCI Viewing party on Saturday and school starts in 1 week! It’s already shaping up to be a great year! Go Trojans!
Band Camp 2025 was OUTSTANDING! Shout out to our amazing parents and band camp staff for assisting our students all week. Performances on Monday and Tuesday to welcome teachers back. Chocolate sell starts tomorrow evening. Trying Candlelight ceremony again on Thursday if the weather permits. Practice this week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 6pm – 9pm and info regarding Trojan Business Day was posted.
