Universal, Friends and Family, and SAPA Championships!

Apologies for the delayed post, a large group of us are still in Orlando.

Last week our three band classes attended our annual Large Group Performance Evaluations and represented our school with professionalism and artistry. The Concert Band performed a grade 3 program and received straight superiors on stage and in sight reading. The Symphonic Band performed a grade V program and received straight superiors on stage and an excellent in sight reading, with all A’s in each category for the stage performance. The Wind Ensemble performed a grade VI program and received straight superiors on stage and in sight reading. They received mostly A+s and all straight As in each category on stage and in sight reading!!! We received great feedback for all groups in addition to numerous compliments regarding our students’ artistry and preparation on the stage. You can view the videos from our performances by visiting our YouTube Page. Wind Ensemble | Symphonic Band | Concert Band.

Last Friday, our marching band departed for a trip to Universal Studios. We participated in a sound design workshop during which our students recorded background music, automatic dialogue replacement (ADR) or voice-overs, and foley (using other sounds to recreate background sounds happening in the scene) to bring a scene from Despicable Me to life. It was an interactive, exciting, and fun experience for all of us, and our clinicians were extremely impressed with our level of preparation and attention to detail. We did an efficient 3-5 minute warm-up, tuned up, and did a test run of the music. The technicians said that our warm-up run-through was good enough for the finished product and that they had never had a group that prepared on their first take. We did a couple of other takes for good measure and had fun learning more about the industry. We continue our trip tomorrow with a final day at Epic Universe before returning home on Tuesday. Well — I worked on the post periodically while in line with the students, but did not finish it until now. We are currently on the bus heading home! ETA is approximately 5:30PM, and updates will be sent out as we get closer. Our students have been OUTSTANDING. They checked in responsibly, maintained punctuality, kept their hotel rooms tidy, and watched out for one another. Because of their level of maturity and the outstanding volunteers who traveled with us, we all had a lot of fun! We look forward to the next trip!

BBQ Sale Started Last Week, Please Spread the Word!

BBQ Packets were passed out last Monday. Thank you for your assistance in selling tickets and for spreading the word! We would also really appreciate your help securing businesses to purchase meals for their employees. We are willing to deliver large orders to make it easier on our customers.

All In One Items Still Available

We have a few All In One Items that we can sell you. They were purchased in hopes of selling them during pick up. If you would like to purchase, please reach out to Lee Wimberly – pastorlee@northpointbaptist.com.

Soda Donations Requested

As we prepare for our annual Band BBQ, we are asking our band families and community supporters to consider donating sodas to help make this event as impactful as possible for our students. We use 12-ounce cans of Coca-Cola, Diet Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Dr. Pepper.

These beverages frequently go on sale throughout the year. By working together and purchasing during promotional pricing, we can stretch our dollars further and reduce event expenses. Every cost we lower means more proceeds go directly to supporting our students through instrument purchases, travel opportunities, scholarships, and program needs. The event is on April 30, 2026, so there is no immediate need, but we wanted to get the word out early so we can begin keeping an eye out for sales.

Thank you for always finding ways to support the Trojan Band. Your generosity continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.
