District Honor Band this Week

Dr. Carr wishes to thank everyone for the outpouring of love and support shown when he was recognized as the District VII Music Educator of the Year at the Georgia Music Educators Association annual In-Service Conference last Thursday morning. “I am honored to have been recognized by my peers, who are also deserving of this recognition, and am thankful for everyone’s support. I have an outstanding team, incredible students, the best band parents, and an amazing family who inspire me to work hard every day. I am glad my family was able to attend the recognition, and thankful that Mr. Lyle, Mr. Nelson, and many friends were there as well. They both drove to Athens just for the opening session and returned to Carrollton immediately afterward. My social media exploded with congratulations, thank you to my wife, Lindsay, Mr. Nelson, and our school system for sharing the news on Facebook. Thank you all so much for your encouragement.”

District Honor Band | Feb. 5 – 7

This weekend we travel to Ringgold to participate in the District VII Honor Band. The High School rehearsals are hosted by Ringgold High School, but the performances will take place at Lakeview Ft. Oglethorpe High School. Students will depart on Thursday at 12:00pm and travel via bus to the event. We ask for parents to pick up their children by 11:00AM in the Ringgold HS parking lot on Saturday, because we all have different report times for the concert. Parents will take their child to lunch before reporting to LFO for the concerts. Download the full itinerary here.

Ms. Breaux’s Recital

Ms. Breaux continues to finish her Master’s in Wind Band conducting at Georgia State University. Tuesday, February 3, 2026 is a major milestone in her journey. The concert is free and open to the public if you’d like to attend to show your support! Ms. Breaux, we are so proud of you!

Kiwanis Showcase

The Kiwanis Showcase is an annual recital hosted by the Carrollton Kiwanis Club that happens in February. This is a GREAT opportunity for students to perform for the community, and an opportunity to earn scholarship money. If this is something that interests you, but you were not able to participate in this year, you should start learning something now for next year. The showcase concert begins at 6:00pm at the Center for the Arts and is free to the public. We’d love for you to attend to support our studnets who are performing!

Soda Donations Requested

As we prepare for our annual Band BBQ, we are asking our band families and community supporters to consider donating sodas to help make this event as impactful as possible for our students. We use 12-ounce cans of Coca-Cola, Diet Coca-Cola, Sprite, and Dr. Pepper.

These beverages frequently go on sale throughout the year. By working together and purchasing during promotional pricing, we can stretch our dollars further and reduce event expenses. Every cost we lower means more proceeds go directly to supporting our students through instrument purchases, travel opportunities, scholarships, and program needs. The event is on April 30, 2026, so there is no immediate need, but we wanted to get the word out early so we can begin keeping an eye out for sales.

Thank you for always finding ways to support the Trojan Band. Your generosity continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.

Uniform Room Organization

Mrs. Bush will be at the school on February 24 to assist with organizing the uniform room. We could use some volunteers to assist her that day. If you are available, we would love your help as well. Volunteer here. 9:30AM – 12:00PM or 1:00PM – 3:00PM. Thank you so much for your help!

Berry College Invitational

On March 4, 2026, our Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will travel to Berry College to participate in the inaugural Berry College Wind Studies Invitational. The students will perform their LGPE selections for a world-class panel of educators, be coached by one of the clinicians, and receive feedback from the panel. Students will also watch Heritage HS perform their LGPE selections and attend masterclasses. It is an honor to have been invited, and we look forward to representing our school and community with excellence!
