Thank you for another successful LoC!

Thank you so much for your assistance in hosting 20 other bands from across the state for our annual Legacy of Champions Marching Competition. We received many compliments about the care that you provided. Students were in awe of the facilities, the awards, the vendors, the celebrity look-alike, and our exhibition bands. The teachers were very thankful for the logistics, hospitality, organization, running on time, and the video/audio crew. The parents and spectators praised the signage, customer service, and experience created by our announcer and production team. The judges were impressed with the hospitality, the quality of the band performances, the professionalism of the runners, and the speed and efficiency of preparing the awards at the end of the day. We all worked together to make the Legacy of Champions an unforgettable experience for all who participated.

If you volunteered to help set up, clean up, donated items, hauled equipment, greeted guests, worked concessions, provided hospitality, escorted bands, provided support for vendors or judges, first aid, accounted for money, sold programs, stood guard at parking lots and gates, and the many other ways that I am failing to remember specifically right now – THANK YOU. This is the largest event of our year and requires the most participation by our parents and students. We were blessed with the service of current and former students, parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and community members to pull this event off. No job was too small to be appreciated. It took all of our efforts, and we couldn’t have done it without you. We look forward to rolling out the red carpet again next year on October 24, 2026.

Special thank yous to our chorus teacher, Ms. Julie Lowry, and her accapella group, The Trojan Trebles, for providing a beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at the start of the day. Scott Keefer from Gift of Music for announcing for us again this year. Russell Smith and his team for providing video/audio support throughout the day. Columbia High School and the University of West Georgia for performing special exhibitions! It was UWG’s homecoming, and the band attended our competition after performing homecoming engagements all day. They still performed with pride and enthusiasm. Right after the dinner break, Columbia High School performed for the crowd with a performance in the visitors’ stands. Columbia set the bar extremely high with their precision, variety of music, strong presence, and infectious energy. The spectating bands enjoyed their performance from the field and the track, shouting “One more song,” at the end of each of their tunes. This was our first time having a special exhibition group during the dinner break, and we will definitely continue this new tradition.

Congratulations to Sonoraville HS and Kell HS for winning the Silver and Gold Divisions respectively. And a special congratulations to Kell HS for winning Grand Champions. They are the first band to win the LoC Grand Championship trophy 2 years in a row.

    • Any student who chooses not to participate in wearing a costume is welcome to wear their current band uniform.
    • Our fun show is family friendly, your costume has to be family friendly too.  Please remember the rule when trying to decide if something is modest enough or not too scary: if you have to ask, the answer is NO.  Thank you for remaining responsible with your choices.  Any student who is wearing a costume that is deemed inappropriate, will have to wear their band uniform instead.  Dr. Carr, Mr. Nelson, and Ms. Dothard will decide if a costume is appropriate or not.  If there is any arguing about having to change into the band uniform, then the entire band will wear uniforms instead.  By choosing family friendly costumes, we all can have a good time while dressing appropriately for our fun show on Friday night.
    • Parents are decorating at the band room and will hand out candy. We are collecting candy donations for the band students. Please drop it off any day this week.

All in One Sale

A few notes: 1) We are not selling fruit this year because our vendor was not able to deliver the fruit in time. We considered a later delivery, but our most popular item, the Hamlin Oranges, wouldn’t be available at all. Therefore, we decided to only sell items provided by our other vendor, Southern Heritage Farms. We did, however, add a few new products! In addition to all of your favorite meats from last year, we have included regular smoked bacon and their 4lb. New York Style Cheesecake! 2) Our pick-up location has changed this year. Mr. Wimberly has generously offered to lead our efforts for this fundraiser this year, and he serves as the lead pastor at North Point Baptist Church. He and his church have offered to host the pick-up there. Please make mention of these items since they are changes from last year.

To place an online order, please visit – chsbandshop.com or see a band family member.
NOTE: Please be sure that you complete the family summary sheet by October 30.
