Trojans are 3-0! Senior Night on Friday

We traveled to Rome last Friday and won a hard-fought game! Rome was winning for most of the game and kept it close the entire game. We tied it up with a 2 point conversion and scored one more touchdown to take the lead. Our band brought the noise and energy needed to motivate our team to keep fighting until the end of the game. We had just started ESPN then our team returned a kick-off for a touchdown. Then We Ready got the entire stands involved and ended with a touchdown follwed by a successful 2 point conversion.

Halftime was outstanding! The Rome crowd enjoyed the show and provided very loud ovations throughout our show. This Friday we plan on adding the first half of the 4th movement for the first time. It is senior night too so we a few celebrations for our seniors. 1) Senior Breakfast – parents decorate a Trojan Head and leave a basket of goodies for your senior after Thursday’s practice (9:00PM) and bring a breakfast item to share on Friday morning (7:30AM). Seniors meet early to enjoy breakfast before 1st block (7:45AM). Seniors see Mr. Nelson or Dr. Carr by 5:00PM to get their cord, and then report for photos in the Cafeteria by 5:20PM. After photos you can report back to the band room to perform in the AMP with the band. You’ll join your parents on the track when we get back for the ceremony. When the ceremony is finished, you’ll rejoin the band for the National Anthem. After the game, we march back into the band room for a fun evening of stand tunes to celebrate our seniors!

Away Game Check Out Procedures • Forms Due by Thursday

Sometimes parents need to check out their child from away events for various reasons. Students are not permitted to check out until the conclusion of the game and after all equipment has been put up. Parents fill out the checkout form and provide it to Ms. Dothard at least one day before the trip. The form needs to be turned in to Ms. Dothard by Thursday this week if you plan on checking out your child from the Rome Game. Students should bring a change of clothes (or wear their shorts and shirt that is under their uniform) and must work it out with someone else in their section to assist with hanging up their uniform properly, since the uniforms return to the band room. If their equipment is returning on the truck, then they should arrange with a friend to assist with their equipment as well.

Saturday Practice Moved to 9/13/2025

We try our best to set the schedule well in advance, but this year we discovered a conflict that could be avoided by us moving our Saturday practice. Instead of practicing on September 6, we will practice the following Saturday on September 13. This will allow us to use the SAC and Stadium during the times that we really need them. ROTC does have their Raiders meet on the 13, so we will need to be mindful of where we park and when/how we access the facilities, but I have spoken with Master Sgt McClain and he thinks that we will not interfere. There is a Middle School Saturday Night Light’s Event for their football team in the stadium on September 6, which would have prevented us from accessing the stadium. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility with this adjustment in our schedule.

Saturday’s Itinerary • September 13

  • 1:00PM Start in the SAC • Access the SAC by using the entrance behind the baseball field (we will not use the access road so that we can remain out of ROTC’s way, since their Raiders’ course is directly adjacent to that area.
  • 4:30PM Break for Dinner • Provided
  • 6:00PM – 9:00PM Full Band in the Stadium

DHB Etudes are available!

GMEA has posted the District Honor Band etudes on their website: https://www.gmea.org/asb-information

New for this year, students will still have to perform their scales in the correct order, at the correct tempo, with the correct articulation, but they can perform them while reading the scales. The scales no longer have to be memorized for the audition. Students will be provided a clean scale sheet to read from at auditions.

DHB auditions are on December 13, 2025, at East Paulding HS. Sign-ups will take place very soon via Google Classroom. First round auditions (District Honor Band) cost $10 and second round (All-State Band) cost $25. To audition for All-State, you must qualify during the 1st round, but you have to decide before auditioning if you are auditioning for just district honor band or also for All-State. If you have any questions, please reach out to Dr. Carr at christopher.carr@carrolltoncityschools.net.

Colleges often look at DHB and All-State participation when considering meeting with potential students for scholarship consideration. Ultimately, it is your preparation for the college audition that earns a scholarship, but preparation for DHB and All-State each year is a great way to practice preparing for a scholarship audition in the future.

Chocolate Bar Fundraiser • Still Selling

We started a chocolate bar fundraiser on July 28. Students have the opportunity to sell boxes of chocolate to receive $25 towards their band fees or trip to Universal. Mr. Nichols is also providing extra incentives for the students. The student who sells the most boxes with at least 10 boxes sold will win a Ninetendo Switch Light. If we sell all of the boxes of chocolate, then he provide a pizza party for our students. The first 20 students who sell 2 boxes will receive a blanket, and the top 3 sellers will receive a free lunch from Chick-fil-a with the opportunity to ride in a Cybertruck to lunch.

Sponsorship Drive • We need your help

We need your help securing sponsors for our Trojan Band. Students will earn 10% of any sponsorship that they secure to use towards band fees or the Universal Trip. Sponsors have helped provide meals for away games and competitions, they help us maintain our fleet of vehicles so that we can transport equipment to football games and competitions, they help us purchase materials for props for half-time productions, and their generosity in addition to our fundraising efforts helps us keep our band fees affordable for our families.

Sponsors can receive advertising at our Legacy of Champions Competition and other thank-you gifts from our Booster Club for their support. For more information, please contact Heather Warren. We must be strategic and not all contact the same businesses. Please reach out to Ms. Warren before reaching out to businesses independently so that we do not bombard our generous community of supporters. If you have a personal connection with any specific businesses, please let Ms. Warren know so that we can work together for our students.
