We are so excited to welcome everyone back to school on Monday, August 11. Remember, students will report to Advisement first. The warning bell rings at 8:20AM and class starts promptly at 8:25AM. Also, keep in mind that traffic on the first few days of school is a little more congested than normal. Get an early start so that you’ll be on time.
Tonight is our DCI Watch Party! This is a free event for our Trojan Band members and their parents. Bring a camping chair, beanbag, or picnic blanket, and camp out in the band room for the festivities. Food will be available, but we ask students to bring drinks and snacks to share. This is a fun night of fellowship while watching the best corps of the year to determine who will earn the World Championship title for 2025.

You’re invited! CHS Band students and parents are welcome to join us in the band room on Saturday evening to watch DCI Finals. The top 12 corps will perform their best for the chance to be named the 2025 World Champions! This is always a fun night! Students bring camping chairs, bean bags, snacks to share and watch drums corps together in the band room. The show starts at 5:30PM.

We’d love for you to stay to watch the end of practice and to help us out. We will pull the flag at the end of rehearsal. This is an incredible tradition and we need you there. Yes, you!

DHB Etudes are available!
GMEA has posted the District Honor Band etudes on their website: https://www.gmea.org/asb-information
New for this year, students will still have to perform their scales in the correct order, at the correct tempo, with the correct articulation, but they can perform them while reading the scales. The scales no longer have to be memorized for the audition. Students will be provided a clean scale sheet to read from at auditions.
DHB auditions are on December 13, 2025 at East Paulding HS. Sign-ups will take place very soon via Google Classroom. First round auditions (District Honor Band) cost $10 and second round (All-State Band) cost $25. To audition for All-State you must qualify during the 1st round, but you have to decide before auditioning if you are auditioning for just district honor band or also for All-State. If you have any questions, please reach out to Dr. Carr at christopher.carr@carrolltoncityschools.net.
Colleges often look at DHB and All-State participation when considering meeting with potential students for scholarship consideration. Ultimately, it is your preparation for the college audition that earns a scholarship, but preparation for DHB and All-State each year is a great way to practice preparing for a scholarship audition in the future.
CutTime instead of Remind
Due to the Remind App no longer supporting SMS capabilities, we will be using CutTime to send just-in-time information throughout the season. Information such as updated ETAs, website reminders, etc., will be sent out via CutTime from now on. Additionally, CutTime will send out automatic statement reminders to families on the first of each month for any outstanding band fees. Thank you for your patience with this throughout the summer. Ms. Dothard has been recovering from knee surgery, and reconciling the information from RevTrak is manual, not automatic. We will continue to work through it to get caught up. If you notice anything incorrect on your account, thank you for contacting us and for having the patience to work through it with us. We want it to be correct.
Summer Health Class – Should be finished by now
All coursework is due by the end of this week! We tried to urge students to finish it by the end of last week, because we knew that this week would be really difficult to find time to work on Edgenuity or eADAP because we have camp from 8:00AM – 9:00PM. Unfortunately, I do not have access to the Edgenuity controls. But, as long as you can still log in, you can finish your work in Edgenuity for full credit! Since the deadline is quickly approaching, you are on borrowed time and could lose access any day. Fingers crossed you’ll still have access the 2 weeks before school starts? If so, get your work DONE! Juggling a 5th class can be difficult, especially with our after-school schedule. Finish a module right now.
We are traveling to Universal Studios! Sign Up Today
On Friday, June 13, we had a virtual meeting to announce this year’s trip. If you missed it, here how you can get the inforamtion and sign up for the trip! The first deposit was due on June 20, but you can still sign up. Right now we still have room. We would love for all students in the Trojan Marching Band to travel with us to Universal Studios this March! We will travel from March 20 – 24, 2026, and participate in a sound stage experience where the students will record the background music, dialogue, and sound FX for a scene from Despicable Me! This will be an exciting experience in addition to the opportunities to observe the performance industry while visiting Universal Studios Orlando, Islands of Adventure, and the newest park EPIC Universe! We will spend 2 days at EPIC, and have 2 days at Universal/Islands of Adventure with park-to-park privileges, so the students will have the opportunity to ride many roller coasters throughout the trip!
For more information and to sign-up for the trip please visit https://chstrojanband.com/26-bandtrip/ • Sign up using the links to the Super Holiday Tours website.
Chocolate Bar Fundraiser
We started a chocolate bar fundraiser on July 28. Students have the opportunity to sell boxes of chocolate to receive $25 towards their band fees or trip to Universal. Mr. Nichols is also providing extra incentives for the students. The student who sells the most boxes with at least 10 boxes sold will win a Ninetendo Switch Light. If we sell all of the boxes of chocolate, then he provide a pizza party for our students. The first 20 students who sell 2 boxes will receive a blanket, and the top 3 sellers will receive a free lunch from Chick-fil-a with the opportunity to ride in a Cybertruck to lunch.

Sponsorship Drive • We need your help
We need your help securing sponsors for our Trojan Band. Students will earn 10% of any sponsorship that they secure to use towards band fees or the Universal Trip. Sponsors have helped provide meals for away games and competitions, they help us maintain our fleet of vehicles so that we can transport equipment to football games and competitions, they help us purchase materials for props for half-time productions, and their generosity in addition to our fundraising efforts helps us keep our band fees affordable for our families.
Sponsors can receive advertising at our Legacy of Champions Competition and other thank-you gifts from our Booster Club for their support. For more information, please contact Heather Warren. We must be strategic and not all contact the same businesses. Please reach out to Ms. Warren before reaching out to businesses independently so that we do not bombard our generous community of supporters. If you have a personal connection with any specific businesses, please let Ms. Warren know so that we can work together for our students.
