Friday concluded this year’s band camp with Trojan Night, our annual friends and family show. The performance was exhiliarting and was the perfect way to celebrate a tremendous week of work completed by our Trojan Band. Lightning just as we were getting set up in the stadium caused us to move the performance inside the Mabry Arts Center, but we still were able to serve many families hamburgers and hot dogs and put on a memorable experience for everyone involved. There is just something special about hearing the Trojan Band inside while they are surrounding the audience. Perhaps it’s the acoustics, or maybe the synergy created by performing closer to the audience, that makes the performances inside the MAC unforgettable. We will perform the show inside the MAC again at the end of our season for our annual Veterans’ Day Concert on November 11. Because of the unexpected weather, we postponed the candlelight ceremony. The seniors communicated about it together and decided to try again on Thursday after practice. Students should wear their show shirt and black band shorts to practice on Thursday night so that we can perform for parents from 8:30PM – 9:00PM and then move to the band field for the candlelight ceremony, immediately following rehearsal.
This past week, we were joined by a team of outstanding specialists who taught sectionals, assisted with our morning visual blocks, and helped us learn drill in the evenings. Thank you so much to Blake Durden, drum majors; Rachel Breaux, flute; Christopher Mothersole, clarinet; Zavier Breedlove, saxophone and low reeds; Hannah Royals, mellophone; Rachel Worley, trumpet; Jordan Williams, trombone; Kelley Oziere, baritone; and Kira Babbs, sousaphone, for providing our students with knowledge and encouragement. We got better because of your efforts, and we look forward to continuing the work that you’ve started!
Also, we had many parent volunteers and assistance from our Carrollton Nutrition Department to keep our students nourished throughout the week. Thank you so much to everyone who pitched in with preparing, serving, cleaning, building props, providing first aid, and encouraging us throughout the week. We couldn’t have done it without your assistance!
Saturday, we celebrated the end of band camp with a trip to DCI Atlanta with our leadership team. Our students represented our school and community with dignity and class. We watched many world-class ensembles perform at the highest levels. It was an inspiring experience! The students left energized and renewed, ready to continue leading their peers for the season.
This week, we meet only on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in the stadium between 6:00PM and 9:00PM for full band rehearsals. We also have 2 special performances. One on Monday morning and the other on Tuesday morning. Refer to the week at a glance for more information.

Trojan Back to Business Virtual Day
Thursday, July 31st from 2:00pm – 5:00pm is Trojan Band to Business Digital Day. Parents can visit campus as needed; however, we encourage families to take care of back-to-school tasks such as accessing schedules and paying fees online. Students with past due balances from the 24-25 school year will not be able to access schedules until fees are paid. Fees from past school years, not this year’s fees. Check Infinite Campus for any past due amounts and make payments via RevTrak. We know you’re excited to see your schedules, please take care of this before next week.
Remind – Not functioning as it used to
Due to the Remind App no longer supporting SMS capabilities, we will be using CutTime to send just-in-time information throughout the season. Information such as updated ETAs, website reminders, etc. will be sent out via CutTime from now on.
Summer Health Class – Should be finished by now
All coursework is due by the end of this week! We tried to urge students to finish it by the end of last week, because we knew that this week would be really difficult to find time to work on Edgenuity or eADAP because we have camp from 8:00AM – 9:00PM. Unfortunately, I do not have access to the Edgenuity controls. But, as long as you can still log in, you can finish your work in Edgenuity for full credit! Since the deadline is quickly approaching, you are on borrowed time and could lose access any day. Fingers crossed you’ll still have access the 2 weeks before school starts? If so, get your work DONE! Juggling a 5th class can be difficult, especially with our after-school schedule. Finish a module right now.
We are traveling to Universal Studios! Sign Up Today
On Friday, June 13, we had a virtual meeting to announce this year’s trip. If you missed it, here how you can get the inforamtion and sign up for the trip! The first deposit was due on June 20, but you can still sign up. Right now we still have room. We would love for all students in the Trojan Marching Band to travel with us to Universal Studios this March! We will travel from March 20 – 24, 2026, and participate in a sound stage experience where the students will record the background music, dialogue, and sound FX for a scene from Despicable Me! This will be an exciting experience in addition to the opportunities to observe the performance industry while visiting Universal Studios Orlando, Islands of Adventure, and the newest park EPIC Universe! We will spend 2 days at EPIC, and have 2 days at Universal/Islands of Adventure with park-to-park privileges, so the students will have the opportunity to ride many roller coasters throughout the trip!
For more information and to sign-up for the trip please visit https://chstrojanband.com/26-bandtrip/ • Sign up using the links to the Super Holiday Tours website.
Chocolate Bar Fundraiser Kicks-off Tomorrow!
Mike Nichols is visiting us at the start of rehearsal on Monday, July 28 to kick off our World’s Finest Chocolate Bar sell. He has strategies to teach that will help us be successful, and he has some incentives planned in addition to the $25 raised per box to make it fun!

Sponsorship Drive • We need your help
We need your help securing sponsors for our Trojan Band. Students will earn 10% of any sponsorship that they secure to use towards band fees or the Universal Trip. Sponsors have helped provide meals for away games and competitions, they help us maintain our fleet of vehicles so that we can transport equipment to football games and competitions, they help us purchase materials for props for half-time productions, and their generosity in addition to our fundraising efforts helps us keep our band fees affordable for our families.
Sponsors can receive advertising at our Legacy of Champions Competition and other thank-you gifts from our Booster Club for their support. For more information, please contact Heather Warren. We must be strategic and not all contact the same businesses. Please reach out to Ms. Warren before reaching out to businesses independently so that we do not bombard our generous community of supporters. If you have a personal connection with any specific businesses, please let Ms. Warren know so that we can work together for our students.
