We had a busy weekend and our students continue to perform exceptionally! We brough the noise to help our Trojans win the Semi Final game against Buford on Friday. Although it was a VERY COLD evening, our students put on a show! They really enjoyed leading the crowd’s spirit as our team fought back to win it. Half-time was a special presentation with a collaboration with Buford’s band and a combined performance of Battle Hymn. We will plan on doing the same show for the championship game at the BENZ! Then we had our parade on Saturday followed by the Christmas Party. The band brought cheer and excitement through Adamson Square as we performed Hark The Herald Angels Sing, an arragement written by Ed Hogan for the Carrollton Band when we performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in 1984! It is an honor to continue this tradition 40 years later!

Volunteers Needed to Wrap Presents
If you are available (students or parents) we need help tomorrow (Monday, December 9) afternoon from 3:30pm – 6:00pm to wrap the gifts that we collected for the family that we sponsored for Christmas. This is something that is typically done by our student leadership and we hope that they will definitely participate, but the more hands the quicker we can finish it up. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who participated in purchasing gifts and those who are willing to help wrap. We have some wrapping paper, but if you could bring some along with scotch tape, then we know for sure we will have enough to all wrap presents at the same time.
Collaboration Concert on Thursday

This Thursday is our Christmas Concert in collaboration with our CHS Chorus. We have a dress rehearsal (just means its on stage with all performers and acts ready to go – do not actually wear your concert attire) on Wednesday after school in the MAC from 3:30pm – 6:00pm. This will assist us with preparing transitions between the performing groups.
The students will wear festive attire for the concert on Thursday — Ugly Christmas Sweaters, Santa Hats… anything to bring cheer to the concert. It will be a fun evening for the entire family!
Thursday’s concert is free to the public and begins at 7:00PM. Students should be on stage with all equipment, music, and ready to go by 6:30PM.
Wind Ensemble Photos • Friday, December 13
Wind Ensemble will stay after school Friday for quick photos for the GMEA program. Students should wear their formal concert attire for the photos. We will take a full group shot, as well as sectional shots. We hope to move quickly and get the photos completed by 5:00PM if not sooner.
District Honor Band Auditions • Saturday, December 14
Students who signed up to audition for District Honor Band Auditions should report East Paulding High School on December 14. Our time spot is between 2:00PM and 3:00PM. Please arrive in time to sign in and warm-up before 2:00PM. Auditions are heard on a first come, first served basis. Spend enough time in the warm-up room to make sure that your instrument is working. Do not over practice in the warm-up room. No points are earned in the warm-up room, but other students tend to want to show off how fast, high, loud that they can play in the warm-up room. This is not the time for this. Check that everything is working, make sure that you are feeling ready, then get in line to audition. If the line is long, remember that you can play a few notes before you start your audition when you get in the room. The auditions are not blind, so dress up a little bit. Wear something comfortable, but wear something that looks nice. You don’t have to be in a tuxedo or evening gown, but dress to impress. First impressions are important.
Dr. Carr will be on site in the tabulation room if you have any issues.

Join us on December 17, 2024 for our annual Winter Booster Club meeting! We will have serve cookies and cocoa at the meeting. We hope to see you there in the band room at 7:00PM immediately following our winterguard practice.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME • DECEMBER 18
Dr. Carr has a meeting on Tuesday morning to learn more about the Championship game. Right now we know that tickets can be bought via the GHSA Website and that the game start time is 7:00PM. We are the home team and will be playing Grayson High School at the Mercedes Benz Dome. Our Halftime will be similar to Buford. We will share the field with Grayson and do a combined Battle Hymn at the end of our presentation.
