Most Entertaining Band!

Last week was another REMARKABLE week for our Trojan Band. We performed the Carroll County Marching Exhibition where we watched and cheered on the bands from throughout the county. It was so much fun to perform for a very appreciative audience including band family members, band students, Dr. Albertus, Mr. Lyle, and Coach King! On Friday, we hosted 78 8th graders for the game against West Lake. Thank you so much to Ms. Delores Hudson, Mr. Montrell McClendon, Coach Scott Morris, and Mr. Richard Hytower for assisting us in picking them up in the Charter Buses to bring them over to the high school. Our student leadership created handwritten invitations and prepared goodie bags for them as well.

At the game the weather finally cooperated to allow us to host the ceremony to honor SSG William Rivers. Thank you to Mrs. Darlene Rivers, William Rivers, and family for allowing us to honor their family. We appreciate Mr. Lyle, Col. Mike Farr, and the numerous Veteran’s who attended to support the ceremony. Thank you to Derek Warren for coordinating the attending veterans. Additionally, thank you to Rob and Yvonne Haley, and Bob Walden for coordinating the special flyover for the ceremony. We greatly appreciate the efforts by the Commemorative Air Force Airbase GA and The Falcon RV Squadron to coordinate, plan, and execute the flyover. This was a ceremony that we had to reschedule multiple times due to weather and we are very appreciative of the flexibility and determination by all involved to provide this ceremony for the Rivers family and our community. It was a beautiful tribute to honor the American heroes lost on January 28. The game was a close game for the first half and then our Trojans continued to persevere to an overwhelming 63-27 victory over Westlake.

Then on Saturday our band students reported back to Grisham Stadium at 1:00PM to put some finishing touches on our show before our competition at the Super Bowl of Sound hosted by Central. Our performance was OUTSTANDING! The students received thunderous applause throughout their show, received Superior Ratings for the 53 year in a row, Most Entertaining Band, Champion General Effect, Champion Visual Caption, 2nd place Overall Band, 1st place Band in Open Class, and 2nd Place in each Colorguard, Drum Major, and Percussion in Open Class captions. This year’s show is another phenomenal production by our Trojan Band! If you haven’t seen it yet we will perform it post game this Friday after the homecoming game. Onward and Upward, Trojans!
