Christmas Parade

VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO MS. MENENDEZ!! Thank you so much for leading the band in the parade for us on Saturday while Dr. Carr and Mr. Nelson were at District Honor Band tryouts! You are a blessing to everyone around you and we are so fortunate that you’re on our team. Without hesitation you offered to cover and because of your expertise and professionalism we were confident that everything would go smoothly. You’re a ROCKSTAR! Thank you so much!

Band: you all looked GREAT in the parade! Thank you for investing in our community and sharing your talents. Generous people make communities great. The willingness to give of yourself to bring joy and happiness to others is a very valuable gift indeed. Thank you for being generous with your time and efforts to make this a better place to live!

Christmas Party

Thank you to our amazing parents and families for making the Christmas party successful! The students had a great time! The students competed in wrapping gifts, making snowmen, and collecting marshmallows. We are so blessed to have parents who assist with the planning and supervision of events like this. Memories were made that will be cherished forever. Thank you for being a gift to our students!

Jazz Band Performance at Tabernacle

The 1st Block Jazz Band is performing for a Christmas Party at Tabernacle Baptist Church on Monday evening. All black with gold accents and a Santa hat.

Christmas Concert

Our concert is on Tuesday at 7:15PM. Our CUES 1st concert of the year is directly before our concert beginning at 6:00PM. Students should arrive at the MAC at 6:45PM and enter through the back doors. We anticipate a very large crowd for our CUES concert since it their children’s very first band concert. Please allow everyone to exit the theater before entering. We highly recommend for parents to wait until 7:00PM before entering the hall. Thank you for your assistance with this!

District Honor Band Auditions

Our students represented us very well on Saturday at East Paulding High School!! Regardless of the outcome of this audition we are proud of you for making the commitment to audition. Parents, thank you for supporting your child. We know that this weekend required you to go above and beyond for your child. You drove them to East Paulding High School, endured the cacophony in the warm-up room, and then drove them back to the high school for the parade. THANK YOU!

This year we had 14 students accepted into the GMEA District 7 Honor Band! They will travel to Ringgold High School in February to participate in the honor band.

12 Passed to the 2nd Round!

In addition to being the district honor band audition, the audition serves as a qualifying audition for the final round of the GMEA All-State Band. The students listed below scored high enough to qualify for this honor. They will attend auditions on January 6, 2024 at Union Grove High School in McDonough, GA.

Band Auditions

My apologies for the delay in posting results. We had a few students who were not able to audition due to illness before the break and then after the break, I was dealing with the loss of my grandmother. Thank you for patience!

Students – Remember, the gift is in the process. Consistent effort over time produces the best outcomes. If you did not have the outcome that you desired this time, then keep practicing. You can start now. You should have a habit of practicing. Commit to thoughtful, consistent practice sessions and you will continue to develop.

Thank you for helping us sponsor Christmas

Thank you so much to everyone who brought gifts for the two families we sponsored this year. We will plan to wrap the gifts on Wednesday after school from 3:30PM – 5:00PM. There is a CMS Christmas Concert on Thursday and Friday is early release, so the best day is Wednesday with everything that we have going on this week. I sent a message to our leadership via Google Classroom, but any student/parent who enjoys wrapping presents are welcome to help us wrap the gifts for the families.

NY Photo

We are expecting a surprise Fedex package on Monday, sent by Mark Drury. He ordered everyone who traveled to NYC with us an 8×10 photo of our Times Square photo! There should be one for all students and chaperones, please send your student to pick up your photo sometime between Tuesday and Friday.
