Last week concluded our summer guard camps. Outstanding work by our guard coaches Pierre, Sophia, and Brooke and the students on fantastic summer clinics! Our students will be very prepared for the 4th of July parade next week as well as for band camp! They concluded with parent BBQ and included our percussionists too! Thank you to all of the parents who assisted with bringing food, setting up, and cleaning on Thursday. It. was a great initial celebration of the hard work our students have already started for the upcoming season. SPECIAL SHOUT OUT TO GRILL MASTER ROD for cooking the hamburgers and hotdogs for the celebration. You brought extra grills and made it happen for our students. You blessed us again and we are so thankful for you!

Although colorguard has finished up until July 3rd, percussion has one more practice coming up on Thursday. The guard has met 2 days a week this summer in preparations and percussion has had sectionals on Thursdays. This Thursday they will meet again as a full ensemble from 12:00pm – 5:00pm.

Congratulations to Mr. Nelson and Ms. Menendez for attending a conducting symposium last week at Kennesaw State University! We are so proud of you and are thankful for the example that you provide our students every day. Continual growth and improvement is what is all about! At KSU they had the opportunity to conduct and ensemble while receiving direct feedback on their conducting, attend clinics about our profession, and network with colleagues and share best practices.

At this point students should be more than halfway finished their health class. Units 1-4 are past due and the eADAP was due last Friday. Next week we have our 4th of July parade, and then in a few weeks we start band camp. Please check with your son/daughter to see how much of the health class they have completed. Many students have completed the entire course already!!! If your child hasn’t that is ok, there is still time, but please encourage them to get to work.
