Concert Recap

This past Thursday our students performed beautifully along with the rest of the Carrollton Arts departments.  Gorgeous banners were created by the art classes, drama performed scenes on stages created out of the wings, and the choir and band performed numbers alone and together! We were even visited by Carrollton Alumni Brian Crews and Cesar Ramirez for a wonderful addition to Holiday Road!   It was a light-hearted evening full of wonderful memories!

District Honor Band Auditions

Many of our students auditioned for district honor band auditions and we had quite a few make it!  District honor band is a competitive process that requires students to prepare much on their own.  We are very fortunate to have Christopher Mothersole and Michael Miller visit us once a week to help pull out students to prepare, but the process still requires students to practice outside of the school day to prepare.  These students are setting a great example for all of our students.  Please help me in congratulating the following students who will travel to Ringgold in February for the District Honor Band:

9-10 Students:

  • Asha Brown, flute
  • Gigi Salmeron, flute
  • Jeffrey Garcia, clarinet
  • Marisa Lopez, clarinet
  • Madison Pate, tenor saxophone (alternate)
  • Josh Hansen, trumpet
  • Walker McCullough, trumpet
  • Marlee Noah, trumpet
  • Hale’e LaChance, french horn

11-12 Students:

  • Maggie Rowland, flute
  • Savannah Richie, flute
  • Jennifer Camlio, clarinet
  • Molly McGrath, clarinet
  • Kaila Bryant, clarinet
  • Katie Hoberg, tenor saxophone
  • Andrew Stagliano, baritone saxophone (principal)
  • Ben Bradley, trumpet
  • Austin Schumann, trumpet
  • Thomas Svegl, trombone

The following students qualified for the 2nd Round on January 11, 2020 at Union Grove HS in Henry County by earning a high enough score to move on.  Congratulations and GOOD LUCK!

  • Ben Bradley, trumpet
  • Josh Hansen, trumpet
  • Katie Hoberg, tenor saxophone
  • Hale’e LaChance, french horn
  • Maggie Rowland, flute
  • Austin Schumann, trumpet
  • Andrew Stagliano, baritone saxophone

Last week our band helped the City of Carrollton ring in the Christmas season by marching in the Holiday of Lights Christmas Parade on Thursday night.

This week we will continue the festivities with a collaborative performance with our choir and actors during the annual Christmas concert this Thursday night at 7PM in the Mabry Arts Center.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas (and honor bands)!

Our season comes to a close

We hope you all had a restful week spending time with family and friends last week. We are truly thankful for all of our band parents and volunteers. While we hope that everyone enjoyed the week off, we came back to cheer on the Trojans on Friday night in Round 3 of the GHSA Class AAAAA playoffs. Although the game did not end the way we wanted, we are extremely proud of our Trojans this year. They fought valiantly to the end of the game and were tough competitors all season long.  We look forward to cheering them on again next season!

This Thursday we have the Carrollton Christmas parade and next Thursday is the Christmas Concert on December 12.

IMPORTANT–HEALTH CLASS

INFORMATION

All work for the health class is past due.  The Google Classroom should now be reporting grades to the students.  Please ask your child to look at their grade in Google Classroom. This is what will be reflected in their report card as their Health and PE grade.  Because I could not get the grade to report accurately until this week, I have extended make-ups through this week.  This is the LAST CHANCE to make up any work or retake any tests.  Thank you for your help with this matter.
