  1.  Chick-fil-a Bowl Details

As you know, our band has been invited to participate in the Chick-fil- a Bowl.

Tickets: The cost of our student tickets has been generously donated.  This is an event that most bands travel to Atlanta to participate in as their “band trip” for the year and pay for their individual tickets.  We are fortunate that we were invited to participate and our student tickets have been purchased for us.

All parent tickets including for chaperone and equipment crew cost $175.00 each and includes admission to the game, fanfest, security clearance to enter with the band, and a credential.  We understand that this is an expensive game admission.  If you would like to chaperone but not attend Fanfest or the game – admission to the parade is free and you would be welcome to either hang out on the bus or could visit the CNN center for lunch/etc? While the students attend the game.

If you buy your tickets through us, the tickets will be blocked together with the student tickets.  We will all be sitting in the same general area.  Because the ticket requires entrance as a group, all tickets purchased by parents will be handed out after the parade on 1/1/2018.  You can purchase your tickets from now until November 17, 2017.

CFA Festivity Itinerary:

  • Mass Band Rehearsal – 12/31/2017
    • 8:00am Report to CHS with show shirt and band jacket
    • 8:30am Depart for the rehearsal

What an Amazing Weekend!

What an amazing weekend!  I know that Michael already sent out a message thanking everyone, but I wanted to take a second and comment on the success of the Legacy of Champions!  All of the volunteers were amazing!  Some of you worked all day, going above and beyond what was asked of you!  Thank you!  Your efforts were appreciated and noticed.  Whether you were taking up money in a parking lot , manning a gate, serving in hospitality, flipping burgers, cooking fries, loading and moving equipment, greeting bands, frying Oreos, selling blow pops, taking photos, cleaning up, counting money, stamping students, organizing trophies, directing people and traffic, working first aid, charging phones, reminding people to “hush”, or anything else that day, THANK YOU!  Without each of you, the event would not be successful.  We are blessed to have so many people support our Trojan Band.  Now, I hope your feet have recovered and you have rested!

This Week’s Schedule

  • Tuesday (10/17/17)
    • Wind Ensemble Rehearsal    3:30 – 6:00 PM
  • Thursday (10/19/17)

  • Friday (10/20/17)

    • Dinner immediately following school (Grilled burgers, chips, drinks provided by the boosters, there will be a vegetarian alternative)
    • In partial uniform 4:15 pm
    • Depart 4:30 pm
    • Return to band room approximately 11:30 pm

      • ** This date had been changed from what was previously posted!  Since there will be no practice on 10/19/2017, it was decided to move the turn in night to the following Thursday.  This also gives everyone more time to SELL fruit and meat!!!  Please remember to ask your teachers, neighbors, friends, and family to buy fruit or meat and support the Trojan Band!

Third Edition of The Legacy of Champions Raises the Bar

The sun never made it through he clouds on Saturday as the third edition of Legacy of Champions Marching Band Competition unfolded on the campus of Carrollton High School but the talent sure shined all day! Saturday was the culmination of months of preparation, not only by the Legacy staff and volunteers, but also by the outstanding bands that took the field in competition at Grisham Stadium. It was evident by the end of a wonderful day of music, food, smiles, and entertainment that everyone’s hard work had paid off, with the competing bands rising as the true stars of the evening.

The event, which took place on the gorgeous 130-acre campus of the Carrollton City School system, within historic Grisham Stadium, featured 21 performances by local and regional bands. the huge crowd of supporters and marching band enthusiasts that gathered were treated to amazing performances,  a variety of vendors, concessions, and first-class facilities that helped to ensure an enjoyable day for all in attendance. The evening concluded with a greatly anticipated awards ceremony, highlighted by the presentation of our massive, one-of-a-kind, traveling Grand Championship Trophy, The Legacy Sword Trophy. At the end of the evening, the Legacy Sword Trophy was awarded to the Pope High School Marching Band of Pope High School, located in Marietta, Georgia. In addition to being named the Grand Champions, Pope also received the prestigious Don Hall Music Award.
