Month: June 2016

Believe It or Not… It’s Time to Get Ready

BeleiveThe month of June is just flying by, which brings us closer to the beginning of marching band activities for this new season.  Our first official activities begins in just a few short days as we prepare for our performance in the Carrollton July 4th People’s Parade.

We will be holding parade practice Friday, July 1, from 3pm-6pm that all band members, including rising 9th graders, are required to attend. Practice begins promptly at 3pm – Remember that being “On-Time” means to be early.  If you arrive at 3:00pm, you’re late! Also, we will be practicing outside, so dress appropriately and begin drinking lots of water to ensure proper hydration for both practice and the parade.

The parade takes place Monday, July 4. Loaders will report to the band room at 8:15am. Everyone else will report to the Community and Southern Bank (201 Maple St • Carrollton, GA 30117) at 9:00AM, please arrive early. The parade steps off at 10:00AM and we should be finished by 11:00AM. Please have your ride pick you up from the old K-Mart parking lot, at the end of the parade route.  The equipment trailer will return to the band room immediately following the parade to off-load.

For those wishing to volunteer to help before, after, and during the parade, please make sure to sign-up here: https://www.charmsoffice.com/charms/volunteerR.asp?v=2982003

Our hearts are heavy

It is with a very saddened heart that I share this solemn news about one of the members of our band family.  Please keep Mackenzee Pair, one of our recent graduates, and her family in your thoughts and prayers regarding the passing of her father, Mr. Rex Pair.

Below was taken from newsletters posted by Midway Church about Rex Pair and has information on how you can celebrate his life.

From Todd Wright’s Blog speaking of Mr. Pair: “I hired Rex Pair as my Executive Pastor in July 2004. All of the changes in ministry that God was taking me through from 2003 were killing me! Ministry had become too complex and confusing in the midst of criticism, complaints, and managing people. I was struggling whether to leave Midway Church and go to a smaller, simple church, or find someone who could help carry the administrative and personnel load at Midway. Rex Pair brought sanity, structure, and strategy back into my life and ministry, which allowed me to stay at Midway Church. Rex became everything I needed and he has made it possible for me to be the leader I am today as Midway continues to flourish.

He taught me how to delegate and release responsibility to others.

He enabled me to focus on my strengths.

He brought strategic thinking to our team.

I’m thankful!”

And from Midway’s Newsletter with information on how to celebrate Rex’s life. “Please be in prayer for the family of Rex Pair, who went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 5. Rex served as Midway Church’s Executive Pastor from 2004 – 2016.  A celebration of Rex’s life will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at The Wright Farm.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the children’s college savings fund.  Donation checks can be made payable to “American Funds” and can be delivered to Midway Church or mailed to:

Norton Financial, Inc.
402 Bankhead Hwy.
Villa Rica, GA 30180

Please continue to pray for Rex’s wife, Leslie and their two daughters, Katie and Mackenzee.   Thank you for your love and support. “

Even though today is a sad day, we find joy in knowing that Rex is no longer in pain and is now cancer free!  He is now in paradise and will be there until his family will be reunited.  Mackenzee, if you are reading this, we love you and your family.  May God provide you peace and comfort through loved ones.  If you need anything, please let us know.
