I hope that everyone is having a great weekend! I am really looking forward to continue working with the everyone beginning on Monday! Mr. Huls has done a tremendous job writing the music and the drill. It is going to be a fantastic year!
Beginning on Tuesday, there will be a concession stand made available by our color guard for everyone’s convenience. Thank you to our booster club and Traci Reed for organizing the concessions as a service to our students during band camp.
I appreciate all of the parental support that goes into making our band program successful. It takes a village to raise a child, and an army to run a band program 🙂 Thank you for being part of our Trojan Family and contributing when you can.
With that said, I would like to also thank all of the parents who have signed up and volunteered to bring food for our staff. Showing the best hospitality is the easiest way to guarantee that we have the best staff year to year : ) Based on the hospitality that I have already seen, you guys are wonderful and our staff will be very appreciative. We have a knowledgeable staff lined up to work with your students, who are spirited an eager to have fun with the students in the coming weeks. I appreciate your support in showing them true Carrollton hospitality.
Here’s to a great year!
I am hoping to save you guys a trip to the band room this morning. I have just spoken with our contact at Southwire to thank them for their invitation to perform, but after much consideration, it is in our best interest not to perform in this inclement weather this morning. I appreciate your willingness to represent our band family this morning, but one thing in life that is uncontrollable is the weather! Southwire still plans on hosting the event to serve our community by handing out school supplies! If you have a chance please thank Southwire for their support of our community.
If it rains next week, we do have locations inside that we will be able to meet and rehearse. I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday morning!
Have a great weekend!
On July 13, 2014 Carrollton lost a pillar of our community. Richard Haney has been a resident of Carrollton since 1967 and owned and operated the Haney Ford Dealership for 30 years. Although I did not have the privilege of meeting and knowing Mr. Haney I have heard great stories from my grandfather and from band parents who did know him. Mr. Haney served as president for our Trojan Band Boosters, serving alongside Mr. Don Hall during some of the best years in our history.
According to the Martin-Hightower website:
“Funeral services will be held at Tabernacle Baptist Church Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Ron Stone officiating. Music will be by Rev. Jack Gantt, Rev. Alan Schantz, and Rev. Will Whittaker.
The Family will receive friends Friday, July 18, 2014 from 4:00 until 7:00p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 150 Tabernacle Drive Carrollton, Georgia 30117.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be may to Tabernacle Baptist Church.”
Please take a minute today to honor the Haney Family and pray for comfort and peace during this difficult time. We are fortunate to have a long history of excellence and the Haney’s helped us to establish this through their legacy.
